Just wondering what's on everyone's "To Do" list before the baby arrives? I've got about 5 weeks, and I'm blanking... here's what I have so far. Share your lists, please!!

Need to wash/fold/sort clothes friends have given us & DD's baby cothes for gender-neutral outfits & make a list of any clothes we need.

Need to bring down & wash carseat, bouncy chair, and swing from attic.

Need to decide on one more baby carrier (I have a ring sling, a pouch sling, & a snugli... trying to decide if I should get a wrap too - anyone think its too hot for a wrap for a newborn in June).

Need to get a dresser or storage bin of some kind for DS' clothes.

Need to buy diapers/wipes/cream/lasinoh, etc.

Need to clean & reupholster rocking chair (ugh).

Need to pack my hospital bag.

i've been nesting like crazy so really all i have to do is make some dinners to stick in the freezer and pack my hospital bag

Need to make sure I have all the pp stuff I'll need for me, like herbs and frozen pads for immediately after birth

Need to search for that thread about dehydrating and encapsuling the placenta

I have had no nesting instinct with this pregnancy. Lucky thing we have all of the "stuff" in place for this baby after #1.

Things I need to do (8 weeks left):
- Sort and wash diapers, figure out what I still want/need diaper-wise
- Go through a zillion bins of baby clothes, pull out the newborn gender neutral stuff, and wash it and put it away
- Buy the rest of my homebirth supplies
- Clean, clean, clean (or, more realistically, get a recommendation for someone who can come and do a deep cleaning of the house before baby comes)
- Train my husband to take care of basic stuff for my biz
- Figure out what else I need to do. LOL.

I'm a total lurker on this board, but I love making lists and crossing things off, so when I saw this, I just had to share...I've got 8 weeks left

- get rest of my homebirth supplies
- finish making mei tai
- plan baby's welcoming ceremony
- finish up work projects (I'm self-employed)
- get a dresser/organize baby clothes

that doesn't seem like that much...there must be more (off to consult master to do list!)

I honestly don't have much to do for baby. I have to get massages set up, and I still need to get a hose for the birth pool, but that is a few weeks away yet.

I might get a new nursing bra.

We have household stuff and yardwork to do, but not necessarily before baby. It would certainly be easier to have it done before then, though. I mostly just want to get my house clean and keep it that way. I have a sort of anal retentive weekly cleaning/organizing schedule I'm going to try to stick to.

You all amaze me ... anyone not even started (those with children already - I have all the stuff somewhere just need to find it).

I did buy a new jar of diaper cream last week (same time as I replaced an empty at school for the 16 month old).

Otherwise, I have done NADA! I know where the clothes and diapers are. I think I 'lent' out my newborn sleepers to a cousin so may need to replace a few. [I have bought nothing new for this baby other than 2 wahm NB diaps.] My car seat is accessible and the bouncy needs to be washed (the cats found it last week and love sleeping in that thing!).

Otherwise - my big thing that I am stressed about is the new routine post-baby, in particular bedtime (will start a thread on that one!) I am counting the days left of work - 5 weeks x 5 days - 5 days of vacation/long weekends = 20 DAYS!!!!! My last day is Friday June 1.

Well, let's see...

-I need to freeze some postpartum meals.
-I need to deep clean the house - starting with this overwhelming urge I have to clean all of the baseboards .
-I need to get out the baby blankets and wash them (I keep asking DH to get the box, but he keeps forgetting, bless his heart.)
-Order my favorite super yummy candle from idlewild
-Oh, yes - come up with a short list of names. So far, this baby is going to be nameless

I don't even have a list.

I plan to let my mother find all the baby clothes and NB diapers. Isn't that awful!?! But I just don't have the energy to go up into the attic right now.

I do plan to buy a pack of disposable diapers, since we used those for the first week to avoid washing meconium dipes. I have a coming home outfit and about 3 baby t-shirts that I bought for this baby that are washed and accessible. I have a few girl's outfits that I bought kind of hoping I will get a girl this time--but they aren't washed because this could be another boy. We would have enough clothes to last until someone could get up to the attic.

I did buy some of those witch hazel wipes for post-partum, and I would've bought the pads I liked last time, but I can't remember the brand, and DS was getting bored, so I'll shop for those later. I've got at least normal menstrual pads at home, so it wouldn't be the end of the world if I didn't find the "right" ones 'til later.

I've lined up my acupuncturist to come to my home post-partum, but I haven't talked to the home-visiting lactation consultants whose names I've gotten yet. I think that is the BIGGEST deal thing I feel I have to do. We really suffered through the early bf stage last time...

Oh, my - my list is a wee bit overwhelming... Much is on DH's plate, but everything needs to get done regardless.

- buy new washer and dryer and clean and paint laundry room
- finish plumbing new soaking tub in master bathroom and finish painting walls and trim
- install diaper shelves in master bathroom
- wash NB dipes
- finish knitting wool NB soakers and shorts
- move DD's clothes to her "new" room to make room for baby clothes in master closet

And that's just the home stuff. I work FT and I have 5 weeks before I want to go out on disability and several major deliverables to complete. Last week was a 63 hour work week, and I'd like to not do that again.

Hmmmm...most of what needs to be done needs to be done by DH! But let's see...

--make freezer food and lay in a good solid supply of "non-perishable essentials" like coffee, tea, and seltzer.

--finish the renovations to the front bedroom (which is the only room big enough to hold a co-sleeper, queen sized bed, and toddler bed). This means sand the final layer of plaster, prime and paint the walls (where it was patched), sand/prime/paint the wood trim (so 4 windows, two doors/frames, the picture rail, and the baseboards), and paint the ceiling.

--finish the renovations to the bathroom. So finish the radiator cover, the cover for the plumbing that sticks out of the claw foot tub, prime and paint the new trim/spots on the wall that got messy during construction, and hang the new toilet paper dispenser thingie.

--finish purging the clutter from the back bedroom and actually take it to Salvo!

--assemble all the amazing furniture we got at IKEA so I can get the "decluttered" house organized/in place (we mostly bought organization and storage stuff like dressers and bookcases)

--finish the cross stich items I'm making for my care providers and doula (also the items I'm making for my SIL's wedding THIS WEEKEND and my friend's wedding next month...ack!).

--I work freelance on video game design. I have two HUGE projects due in mid-May. These need to be done ASAP in case i have the babe before then! Somehow I don't think anyone at those companies would be happy with a "the baby ate my life" excuse, and I also don't see myself being terribly witty/coherent from my birth bed so this is a real must do.

--And close up a number of projects at work.

Sigh...my absolute and total apathy right now is a bit of a problem. I have so many projects it's perfectly simple for me to procrastinate ALL of them in favor of others. Meaning nothing is getting done but I'm still hormonally driven into panic.

ETA- pack bag for hospital, pack bag for babe, meet with doula second time, send in hospital pre-reg paperwork and copies of birth plan, find "new baby brought you a gift" for 2yo dd (probably a doll house), make a "nursing the baby" basket of neat things for 2yo (probably things for the dool house!), move a ton and a half of stuff to the attic, send the bags of leaves and ick in the back yard to the green dump, weed the flower patch and pray they can all survive a little neglect this spring/summer!

Finish stocking the freezer. It's got calzones and some healthy boxed meals, but that's not going to cut it for long.

Buy diapers. I'd really been hoping for them at my shower but everyone decided that we need tons of 0-3 mo. clothing instead. :

Do something about the disassembled crib in the nursery. Not that Squirmy will be sleeping there, but it will make good storage away from the cats. Unfortunately, I tried to put it together and couldn't nail down the slats that support the matteress. Fortunately (unfortunately?) DH couldn't do it either so at least I didn't feel like quite such a wuss.

Buy nursing bras.

Don't forget that your vision can change due to pregnancy, and change again after the babe is born! So if you're going to the eye doc to have a new pair of glasses/contacts made you may want to wait!

* Make meals for freezer

* Get postpartum "stuff" : pads, herbs for sitz etc.

* I wanted to crochet 2 wool, sleeper sack soakers - if I don't get to it, the baby will just have to go straight to wool soakers at night.

* Wash baby clothes, diapers, and blankets

*Finish podegi I am working on

I *think* that's it, which is good because I only have about 4 1/2 weeks left!

Clean/vacuum out car.

Find storage solution for baby's clothes.

Buy diapers

Decide on name!

Put batteries in swings/bouncer.

I have been nesting and cleaning out clutter since like the beginning, so good progress with that stuff.

Oh yeah, finding some names, that might be a good idea .

Pack a few things for the hospital (not planning to stay long)

Get some herbs for pp -- afterease for after pains and maybe some for sitz baths

Wombatclay -- I have heard that about eyesight changes during pg, I actually had forgotten about it. I haven't noticed it with my previous pgs though, so I may still go for it.

Hmmmmm, first priority is to get as much sleep as I can. I don't function too well when I don't get enough.

Then, finish up with getting my birth supplies (just odered my kit tinight!)

Find the cradle matress.
wash all the sheets that go with it.
buy a pack of sposies like the pp said, I don't want to have to wash meconium in the dipes!
wash all slings.
clean house (or at least make it look decent to the mw )

and that is all I can think of for now.

Oh gosh, I try not to think about this too much.

The real necessities are:
- Wash NB diapers & clothes.
- Get a few more of those gowns with the elastic bottoms (I LOVED those for DD!)
- Make sure PackNPlay is ready to go as a basinette, but packed away in the guest bedroom so it doesn't get in the way during labor.
- Finish collecting/buying homebirth supplies.
- Make some more meals for the freezer.
- Declutter/organize storage space so DH can find things if I need him to.
- Finish up work projects so my clients have no excuse for calling me during the first couple weeks postpartum.
- Clean the living heck out of my house.
- Get NB items (swing, bouncer, small diapers, etc) back from a friend.

I also have a wish list of jobs (anal retentively organized by priority, room, and requirement of DH's involvement) that's about 40 items long. It includes things like painting entire rooms, installing lighting fixtures, and building/upholstering simple furniture items. We'll see how far we get with that!

All this with only 5 weeks to go until my EDD and one entire weekend to be taken up with DD's second birthday party. (That wouldn't be so rough if we weren't having OOT guests for the party.) I hope this baby's late like DD! :
