Okay, I slipped off of the wagon. I heard about a great deal for a one year subscription to Vegetarian Times magazine. $2.97! That hardly counts, right?! The weather was disgusting and I was still feeling the blahs and I am a total emotional eater. So dh went to the grocery store and spent $30.09 (beer, steak, salad dressing, rice pilaf and lime bars). We didn't need it, but boy was it good! After dh went to bed we drank beer and watched Weeds on dvd.

OK, catching up....

May 1: -$173.85 on shoes
May 2:
May 3: +$89.90 on returned shoes, -$109.90 on more shoes
May 4:
May 5: -$28ish on books
May 6: +$28ish on returned books, -$12.99 on skirt (which I'm going to return), -$30ish on mother's day card/present, +$64 turned in change

Which brings us to today. And I can already tell you, there are going to be more shoes. My running shoes are shot and my feet can tell. I swear I'm really not a shoe fiend--I just have problem feet and really have to find a couple of pairs I can wear this summer!

Ah, Prue! I think we share a compulsion

I am a chronic impulse purchaser and a wool wall hanging might have been too much for me to pass up... especially since it was a church auction! For a good cause and all that happy hooey. Can you write something like that off on taxes?? As a donation? It might make it a bit easier to swallow :

Does anyone save all their receipts so you can see your damage in B&W?
sunflowers-- I do. And also I write down the totals from each store in my home binder so I can keep track better.

I forgot to add that even though we spent money on Saturday at the Air Show I made $20 at a yard sale that I wasn't even at. Yay!!
I've got to run into town today to take some paperwork to the Medicaid office so I have to be strong! Hopefully I'll get a big blue thumb for today too.

Yeah!!! I left my wallet at home today. Just took my driver's license out so I wouldn't get in trouble if we were pulled over.

I feel naked without my wallet...but you sure can't buy anything!

Now I'm home for the day and home is a safe no-spend zone for me.

I hope everyone is having a strong day! Think of all the money you are saving...

Not going anywhere means not spending anything, so for today I am safe!

DH gets paid on the 15th and that's the check I use for my monthly shopping. I am already very carefully planning how I'll use my share of it. I'm going to do a pantry challenge May 15- June 15th so I'll have "extra" money to use for some needed gardening supplies.

We got a kitchen chair through Freecycle yesterday. I have to remember, it's not really free, it does cost us gas to pick stuff up if we aren't already going there.

Ah well...I just took a look over in our bank account. Things are ... er...not so rosy looking over there.

If I ever needed motivation to not spend the rest of May...I just got it.

You are going to see A LOT more thumbs on this Mom's posts.

I've thought about it. I really need to. Of course that doesn't help as much with online shopping. :
Well, I will be shopping today. DH has the day off so this is when we do our grocery shopping. It's mostly fresh stuff and a couple storage items. We are getting a water filter, but we will be using rewards dollars from our PC mastercard to get it for free . I am also going to get the battery charger today if they have any left. I have found super cheap rechargable batteries on ebay that should work so we will save tons of money and waste in the long run (I used to use rechargable, but I lost it in a move and never got around to getting another one. Plus my long term goal of saving money and simplicity out weighs getting a thumb today. I am planning to put any birthday money I may potentially get into savings and consider this my present ).

I am trying to figure out if getting my sewing machine serviced is considered essential. I would love to do some sewing but it is in dire need and I can't use it at this point. I have a friend who said she'd do it but I do plan on paying for it since it's part of what she does for a living.

Bah. I already blew it for today--felt so bad coming to work this morning that I got a coffee and a muffin on the way in ($6). Might as well go shopping at lunch now...
