Bad appointment and dumb nurse practicioner

Today I went in for my 36 wk appointment. The doctor did a group B strep, and the swab hurt like anything, then I could not pee because it was so painful. Then this nurse-practicioner in training tells me that I am going to have a baby in two weeks, and I was like "huh, and you know that HOW?" She went on to "explain" that didn't I know that term was 38 weeks (huh?) and that SHE delivered HER babys both at 38 weeks (yahoo for you!) and I said, well I had my first two at 40 weeks 5 days, and she remarked that "well, you don't want the babies to get to big or fat, do you?" like 40 wks 5 days was ODD or something?

Then, when my usual doc was writing out a script and I was waiting to make a next appointment, she made a big show of going through my chart and announced in front of whoever else was waiting, "oh, and you are getting a script for zoloft, right?"

Hmmm, ever heard of PRIVACY laws, lady?

And since the swab, I've been all crampy.

yuck. But baby is fine.

ugh sounds terrible! I had my swab last week and could barely feel it, sounds like a crappy appt all around.

The stupidity of some people really truely never ceses to amaze me.

You wouldn't want a baby too big or too fat? really. How about not wanting a baby too early with all the complications of prematurity?

I'm sorry you've been exposed to that. Good thing it's not catching (well, I guess that's debatable , but you seem immune at any rate)

Wow, what an idiot! I really think you should write a letter to her supervisors and to the hospital about her disclosing your personal info in front of others. That is really wrong and I'm pretty sure it's a HIPPA violation.

I'm only 36 weeks too and my grandma keeps asking my mom why they're letting these babies get so big.

Weird, my swab was pretty much external. It didnt' go all the way in like a pap, anyway. She did check my cervix after that but that didn't hurt.

Oh my goodness! I'd be so angry about the privacy violation. They know better :

What on earth was she doing with the GBS swab? It only has to swab the opening of the vagina, not the cervix! When I had mine done I hardly even felt it.
