Dingos - it's May - come tiptoe (or run, walk, or wog) through the tulips with us - Page 6

I can't imagine running without music - I need it to drown out the sound of my breathing! I get so discouraged and tired feeling if I listen to any wheezing or tired breathing, but my energy is fine if I don't hear it - so it's music all the way for me.

I think I need new running shoes. I can't afford them just now, so I will keep walking until I can buy new shoes and then I will experiment with running again. I miss it.

The plan for tomorrow is to get the short essay test written and submitted, or at least ready to check over and submitted in Friday morning. Next week I will complete the next quiz and crack down on the research paper.

I think that after this course I really do need to take the approach of beng a full time student for each course and aim to complete it in a month, just to keep myself on track. The next one looks really easy, but boring, so I will just plg away at it as quickly as possible to get it out of the way.

I don't have any specific requests for a training buddy, just someone who I have to report back to and say that I did the running I planned...

It is getting harder for my evening runs, since it is soooo hot now. I just don't know that I can hack morning runs though, with staying up late to write and still getting up w/ DD at night, I am a zombie in the AM. But I'm hoping to join the campus gym for summer semester and do some runs on the TM a couple days a week at lunch.

DH took me to lunch today for my bday and got me flowers and has been super sweet - he even got up last nite w/ DD so I could sleep (I never even heard them up) through the nite. That was the best bday present! He is making up for last year when he forgot my bday (sorta forgot it - he had ordered flowers and planned stuff, but for the wrong day! )

Can we talk running shoes? I need something different. I have a pair of Nikes that I bought 10 years ago just to wear as shoes and they are worn and torn on the inside and giving me a blister on the back of my heal.

I suggest that you go to a running store, not a big sporting goods box store. They will assess your gait, running plans, etc. and fit you for shoes that will work perfectly for you. You'll be amazed at how much better your run feels with properly fitted shoes .

goal #1 met for the week. I unearthed both the double and single jogger. Poor leah wanted really badly to go for a ride. she kept pointing and climbing in/out.

Get out there, Kerc!

Geo, I don't think songs or books would help in her case. Any sort of distractions at all and she won't go. It works best if we aren't even in the room with her. She has to concentrate completely on the task at hand. If only she could sit still for more than 5 seconds.

DH accepted a new job offer today and starts on the 15th. I have mixed feelings about it, but employment is employment!

Word.

I got it.

(Fo' sho' this time)

i did some celebrating last night..... and this morning felt pretty Four glasses of red wine and a (first ever) shot of tequilla (no lime/salt) knocked this chica on her butt.
Yay!

I don't have an official written offer yet, because they have to do some stuff first. They decided to hire both me and the other candidate because they wanted us both, and are getting rid of a guy on the team who is not performing so that there are two spots open. Since I won't need much training, they are getting the other girl started first, so she's getting the current opening and I'm getting the other. Before they can give me the formal offer they have to fire him, then post the position for five days, then can write me the offer. They assured me that I have the job, but that they have to post it and talk with a couple of people for legal reasons. They said that they will then say that they had an applicant (me) from the other opening that they chose. So they figure I'll start in 4-6 weeks!!

Thank God.

Yeah, Rebecca!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :

As for my buddy needs, similar to callie's, as in I just need to be accountable for getting out there. And it won't always be running, but some sort of movement 5-6 days a week.

I went to a knitting store that I haven't been to before. Not super impressed with the vibe (lots of 'rules' and the DDs got scolded a few times : ) but it is very close. Anyway, I let both DDs pick out a skein and got them needles. Now the trick will be to teach them. They are 5 and 3. Not sure how well it is going to go, but we will give it a shot. And I got someone there to show me how to do the bobble.

Monica, can you just keep talking to her about it? Since she is willing, I would say that you are doing great. The details will follow.

Ok, must get kids to bed.

Yippee, cReb!!!!! I knew you'd get it!!!!!

Oh man! I've been cooking dinner. The rain is gone and it is gorgeous outside. I came down here to my room and couldn't get my clothes off fast enough! I'm now in my running clothes with dinner on the stove, waiting for dh to bring home some coconut milk for Thai food. Then, I'm off!!! I can't wait!!! Wow! I've never been this excited to get out for a run before.

50 minute trail run done. and i might have a friend to run the 18 mile half marathon i'm signed up for at the end of june. my lungs felt horrible, but it was a lot of fun. i usually don't run with a buddy, so it's a nice treat.

Today I had to take ds to the dentist for a cleaning/training appt. He did so well, it was like he was someone elses kid. he sat still on the dentist chair, opened his mouth, cooperated, didn't freak out. He was perfect and then even polished his teeth.

Then we went to the yarn store and that went really well. The lady was so nice and welcoming, the other shoppers were chatty and fun. And they had a big bin of toy cars for ds to play with so I got to walk around and feel all the yarn. Even though I'm not supposed to buy any, I got sock yarn for those socks that Moonshine posted a little while back, those have been on my list too.

and Oh My Goodness - that aran sweater is gorgeous. some other nice pieces on his blog as well.

time to finish up some work and do some relaxing.
