Hi, I was just wondering if anyone has any natural remedies for cat allergies. My ds is allergic to cats - we don't have any but we have relatives who do - any information on something natural that would help would be great. Thanks!

i have a book someplace around here. i can't find it or i would tell you the name and author. it is about natural cat care and in it she talks about the benefits of having cats on a raw meat diet and she claims that cats who eaat all raw meat for some reason don't cause allergies in people who are very allergic. something about it changing the proteins in there dander and fur and saliva? she had a number of cases of people with sever allergies who where able to keep cats and have no reactions at all to there own cats who where on the raw meat diet.

I would comb the cat as often as possible (outside.) If the cat is a long haired, I would shave the fur (ask for a lion-cut. It is really cute) to wash him/her with ease. You may continue to wash the cat often until your DH builds more tolerance to your cat. If you never have done this, take the cat to a pet shop for them to do it. Make sure you clip all their nails first, if you are going to try this yourself. The vet quality cat foods do help. Most cats LOVES the raw meat. (I've had some who didn't care as much, but he was a grown cat.)
There is a homeopath remedy called "cat remedy" I took this while I was expecting. My cat had kittens, and my allergy got worse (with the increased number of cats.)
Wash everything as often. If you can keep your cat in one room (hopefully with a big, sunny window), I would keep the cat there until your DH build some tolerance. I use a small, light weight vacuum for daily use with HEPA filter. Air cleaner does also help. I'm ok with my cats, but get itchy with other cats that are not kept clean.
