symptoms issues do I need to call in?

I'm feeling horrible. i didn't feel like this with DD. I worked up till the day before I went into labor with her. Now I'm missing about 3 half days a week. I can not get enough sleep. I'm down/depressed (cnm put me on lexapro but I don't want to tell her it's not working and have it increased). If I had my way I'd stay in bed all day everyday and do NOTHING.
The braxton hicks are very frequent and some very strong. I'd say sitting here at my desk I've had 5 or 6 in the last 40 minutes. They happen off and on all night laying down walking sitting whatever. I'm definately hydrated. I'm having mild headaches but I don't know if they're allergy related because I haven't been taking anything for allergies this season. All of this is combined with occasional bouts of dizziness if I move to quick.

Any suggestions would be great appreciated. I really don't want to go get prodded and I can't decide if I think it's serious enough for that. I'm not due to see my midwife till the middle of next week oh and I'm 33weeks.

Sorry for whining I figured you ladies would understand.

Mama

I'm sorry you're feeling so cruddy.

If you're worried about the headaches/dizziness I'd have it checked out.

I understand! I would like to mention that sometimes certain meds can make you feel all sorts of out of whack. IMO I think you should really mention that you dont feel like the meds are doing anything for you. If she wants to up your dose and you dont, you can always decline.

I've been very down alot also and my MW (also a CNMW) had mention that while sometimes medication can help, you still need to have some sort of Therepy in addition to the meds. (I've been trying to find the right person, well anyone really, but thats a whole other story)

I also think the Contractions are worth mentioning to your MW... especially if you're concerned. Slumps like this are no good and some times you need a little extra help and boost to get out of them.

Keep posting too... vent, rant, do what ever you can to get it out... we are all here to listen and this is a great place to get stuff off your chest and there is LOTS of support!

Thanks for the suggestions. I was just put on the meds about a month and a half ago and I've only started feeling like this the last week or so (it's getting worse everyday) The contractions are getting stronger and more frequent as well. They actually woke me up last night. I've had about 5 more since I posted the last message.
I am seeing a counselor every other week. i've been seeing her since before I started the meds. Since about Jan actually. Of course the midwife is at lunch so I'm going to call the office back at 1pm.

Thanks everyone for listening.

I called they told me to come in right now. So I'll update when I come back.

I'm glad you called...hopefully they'll be able to either figure out what is going on or at least reassure you and offer some ideas.

Hang in there mama and let us know what they say!

I was going to say you should call, so I'm glad you did. (And I never want to call in for myself, either!)

My mw told me to call if I have more than 6 BH ctx per hour, so 4-5 in 40 minutes while sitting down seems like it is worth a call.

Sending healthy, happy thoughts your way...

I'm glad you called in, I hope you get some answers and are feeling better soon! Let us know how the appointment goes.

I'm also glad you called. That many BH's in an hour is a cause for concern, imo.

Well sorry i didn't update you ladies last night after being sent to the hospital and hooked up to the monitor I drove home and got in bed after I made DH take me for dinner.

They couldn't really tell me what it is except that maybe I have an irritable uterus. They checked me for UII don't have one, contractions were showing up on the monitor some ( I was feeling more than it was showing) BP was up a little but not enough to alarm them. Cervix is soft but still closed. She basically told me to take it easy and come back if I have more than 4 in an hour or have them every 5 minutes for an hour. I laughed and said I'm here I'm having them, she said well if it happens again....totally went over my head because it was happening as she said it but OK. So I'm still having some this am, not as many. I'm just going to rest a lot and hope to make it at least another week and a half so that I don't have to be sent out of town to deliver. She offered me a shot (didn't say what it was) to calm my uterus if it's bothering me but that it probably wouldn't make any difference to the outcome so that right there tells me why expose myself to any medications or interventions that aren't going to change the results ... So that's where I stand I'm just irritable

You can take some cramp bark tincture to calm your uterus, it usually works for me. An Omega 3,6,9 supplement along with a magnesium supplement helps too. The shot they gave you was probably terbutaline (aka brethane) and it elevates your blood pressure. It isn't proven to stop labor but it works sometimes.

Sorry you didn't get any real answers. I went through the same thing, I was tested 3 times for a UTI and kidney infection before it actually showed up positive. You could just start treating yourself for a UTI by taking acidopholus, cutting back on sugars, and drinking a ton of cranberry juice - it can't hurt.

Thank Jilian for the advice I'll see if I can find that cramp bark. I didn't take the shot they just offered. I agree it can't hurt to remember to take my acidolphilus and drink some cranberry juice.
