Can you safley homebirth if group step b pos ?? - Page 2

Yes, you can. I tested positive for both my pregnancies (one hospital, one home) and didn't have any problems. I did an IV with both since I was really positive & the hibicleanse with any vaginal exams.

Yes, I did.

I tested + at 36 weeks and I agonized over what to do about it. I bought the hibicleanse to do at the beginning of labor but my midwife thought that was excessive.

I took an herbal tincture every couple-4 hours during labor, which ended up being only a few times since it was short. And I did use garlic vaginally a couple weeks before my due date off and on.

Baby was just peachy! and truthfully probably would have been fine even without all I did.

I was GBS +. I was seeing a GP but planning an Oops UC. When I found out I was + I started boosting my immune system with Vits. Then the day after DS was born at home I took him in the see the GP and she sent us to get a bit of blood drawn at the lab to do a culture or whatever. She told me what to look for in DS but I'd already researched it. She said she would call if there was a problem. I haven't seen a Doc with DS since. He is 6 months.

I switched Docs at 38 weeks when I found out I was GBS+ because the other doc told me to find a new one. He didn't think it was a healthy relationship that I was questioning his schooling. : I refused a lot of things and he went along with it but when it came to IV antibiotics for GBS he wouldn't budge. Even though I was only in the hospital for 40 mins with my first birth. It takes 4 hours for the antibiotics to take effect. What would be the use in giving them to me? This birth was even faster.

EXACTLY what I was thinking!

I wasn't tested for GBS this time but since I tested ++ we are going ahead and doing the Hibiclens douche while I'm in labor.

My MW has also mentioned the Hibiclens douching as a solution. In fact she suggested that if you test positive, you can do the washes and then test again and be negative - so if you DO transfer they won't do anything. But I trust it won't be necessary!

I did not test last time (was neg with first) and we'll talk about it more later in the pregnancy, but will only test if there seems to be reason to do so.

My MW and I had a LLOOONNNGGG discussion about this because she encouraged (but didn't require) testing, and said that if test was positive it would help her manage the labor a little differently, like keeping a closer eye on temp of mom, and also trying to keep the waters intact as long as possible, and doing what we could to move delivery along faster. if positive (or no test) and ended up transferring to the hospital and refused abx, they would do a cbc test on the babe an hr or two after birth.

you can always retest, MW recommended tea tree oil suppositories and a probiotic immune booster (BioK+) before retest.

If I was GBS+, my mw would do oral abx at home. She also would not do any vag exams to reduce the risk of pushing the bacteria inside you.

In AZ, if you are +, your md cannot attend you. So we just opt out...but if you have to take your babe to the hosp for whatever reason, they give you heck over it.
