Welcome! My baby boy was born on the 24th. He also loves to climb, and I agree with Heather-- the best way to handle eating is to take off clothes. Still, the high chair is a total mess afterwards, and I have discovered that banana turns brown and stains. Ugh!

Molars. heh. we are still holding steady at two toofs, and sheer hell. I swear the top two have been making their way for2 months. One is visible, but since shes been sleeping better (aka waking ever 2 hours from 11-5:30 and every hour before and after that) i think they are back on break.

Who knew that the 8:30 pm bedtime would lead to a 6:30 am wake up? I almost like the 10-8 schedule better!

Hi everyone! Maggie is all over the place and still no teeth! Liz didnt teeth until she was about 14 mos and then it was all at once so I am thinking she will teeth around her corrected age.

Getting back to all over the place- she can stand on her own for about 2 minutes or so. Still dosent choose to step forward though! She cruises and stands anywhere and everywhere. She also TPd our hallway yesterday w the roll of toilet paper she unrolled in the bathroom. But her favorite thing is trying to get in the toilet : Esp when her sister is on it. I am hoping this is a phase that passes.

Her older sister is gracious about her curiousity but has toys all over the house up high. Well at least high enough that Liz could reach! Liz also has taken to closing her door to play.

Its good to see we can keep up this group! And yes no Leighann??

So, Joey and I went out on a hot date last night, our first since Talula was born. It was fun. And Talula was fine. We checked in a few times and she was either sleeping or playing. I missed her, but we had such a nice time. We made out.

Right now, she's trying to climb up the wine rack. May have to get rid of it.

I'm scared to go out and leave the DD with people. She is tantrum-y still... I'm afraid of scaring off any potential babysitters that I may need in emergencies. Quite a bossy babe too. The bossy-ness wouldn't be so bad if we knew what the heck she wanted.

: Being that I still can't leave the dining room to go put a dish in the kitchen sink without a MAJOR hissy, I think babysitting is a LONG time in the future for us...which is just as well, as DH and I are homebodies anyway. Good thing for K I don't subscribe to the "they have to get used to being without you" line of thought for babies (and I am blessed to be able to work from home - truly blessed). Once she hits about 18 months or so, if she's still like this we'll start to work on it. But not until she's able to start comprehending things and communicating in a somewhat effective manner.

It's kind of nice to have a baby who prefers me, as opposed to DS who might as well have had baby tshirts that said, "..and I should care you're my mommy because.....?" I almost got a complex at one point, but I know it's just his nature - just as it's her nature to need me more. She is better than she was a couple months ago, but is still a long way from being OK with anyone else tending to her.

Hey, quick question: Anyone else's baby LOVE water? K, in addition to nursing about 8 times a day, drinks about 12 ounces of water a day. It's the only other liquid she gets besides nursing, and man does she love it.

still have 7 teeth here, but one of her eye teeth is about to pop i think.

eating meals. oatmeal/applesauce for breakfast, veggies for late lunch, then dinner, usually whatever we're eating. she seems to have made herself a vegetarian, which is fine, 'cause i don't really wanna give her meat anyway. so we stick to lots of good fruits and veggies. she had a taste of peanut butter last week, with absolutely no reaction, so i think we may try and give her a little more, and then in a few weeks try strawberries, and if those go well, we'll try shrimp this summer.

we weaned her off formula and on to whole milk, which was great (yay for no more formula!!) but she started having really dark circles under her eyes, which could be a sign of a milk allergy, so i went and got goat's milk and started trying to increase my supply.

in just three days, i managed to meet her needs!! i'm officially feeding two babies! as long as i pump 14oz a day, i can meet her needs. she gets a 7oz bottle before nap, and another one before bed, and juice in between, with lots of snacking all day.

and to close, i'm posting our new favorite picture, 'cause i wanna.

OK, OK, we'll call it a tie for cutest little guy - for now!

And yeah, I don't mind tandeming, I actually quite enjoy it - well, most of the time I'm not sure if you were asking how tandem nursing works in general or for me personally so - in general, it works because your body automatically provides for the baby in utero first, the nursing baby second, and yourself last - so as long as you eat well & take vitamins etc. everyone is happy! Well, not all women want to nurse while pg because some have nipple soreness, worsening of morning sickness etc. when nursing a toddler...I am lucky, I don't experience any of the negatives, and my supply dips a bit in the second trimester but doesn't disappear. There's a wide variety of experiences - some women have tons of milk all through their pg, some dry up completely, most are in the middle - drop in supply but not too bad.

Oh and thank you, about my father.....I appreciate everyone's prayers, good thoughts, etc. for my dad (for those who might have missed it, my dad was recently diagnosed at age 59 with probably terminal cancer so I am hoping for a miracle but at least for as much time as possible with him We were semi-estranged for a long time but then became close again and I cannot even imagine him being gone....

YK, sometimes they surprise you....Andrew is kind of like that too, and I *never* leave him, rarely even with DH - but yesterday I had to, DD1 had to go to Children's Hospital for a barium swallow & upper GI series and they do not let siblings in there because of the radiation, etc. DH had a major thing at work so couldn't take off, obviously mom is with dad at the hospital where he is, so I had no choice, I had to leave the younger ones with my good friend & her kids. I trust her totally, but still, I was SO nervous!! With traffic and parking in the city etc. I ended up dropping him off at 9 am and not getting back until 1 pm, and he did great! I was amazed. He really did much better without me than I thought possible - in fact she said he seemed to have fun with the change of scenery! So you never know!

(BTW DD1 apparently has delayed gastric emptying - anyone know anything about that? She's been on meds for reflux for a year or so, but now they think she needs a peds GI doc to eval further....)

Yes, Talula surprised us, too. Our date was sort of a test run. We went to a restaurant that's two blocks away, and we fully expected to have to take our meal to go. When we finished our meal with no phone call yet, we decided to call, and Tania said she was sleeping in our friends arms and hadn't cried yet. I think I felt a lot better that Tania was there, because she's really protective of Lu and would have insisted our friend call us if she cried. I think a lot of people would think they were doing us a favor by not calling, but we really wanted to be called. Anyway, we had a really lucky situation here because our friend that watched her is our neighbor, and Lu sees her every day. We also didn't have to do the whole leaving thing. Our friend just came over and Tania carried Lu over to her house.

that really sounds like a perfect situation for all of you! it's so nice to find someone your baby trusts. my friend comes over to watch s2 when i go to my counseling sessions, and it's a huge stress relief. she brings her 9mo son to play with s2 and i take j with me, although she did offer to nurse j if i wanted to leave him too (or needed to)

here i am. i went offline for lent and in the meantime got a full time job...which is good b/c dh wanted to be a sahd and we needed the $ of a full time income, but it's bad too...much harder to manage my time now.

anyway mikey is walking professionally. he took his first steps in march and is now a speed demon. still only the 8 lovely teeth that he's had since february though...seems to be working on those molars now though, he's often gnawing on things...he says mama, dada and deez (which i think is his word for this and he uses it constantly when pointing at things! sometimes it's definitive like "i know what DEEZ is and i want it" and sometimes questioning like "what's DEEZ?") cracks me up. he points a lot and also waves goodbye...hmm...that's about it for your may version of mikey's milestones...LOL.

Welcome! I was in the June DDC since I found out I was pregnant and had a due date of June 25th and little man decided he wanted to be a July baby, July 2nd, but I wasn't willing to give up my June mama's!

Sorry I had to laugh at the image of her tp'ing the hallway! The girls did that too! And why is it that the kids LOVE the bathroom, until you're coaching them to use it?!

J.C is still only taking about one step before eatin' hardwood floor He loves his sisters! Kya can get him to laugh like no one else! He's also a BIG mama's boy. He wants me over everyone else and I LOVE it, since Kya and Carson both preferred JasN. We're finally starting to do 3 meals a day. He's still a great nurser, choosing long blocks at night to nurse : He waves at everything that moves and says "dada" and "mama" and shakes his head "no" I've started baby sign and hopefully he'll catch on.

Great to see some of our mia mama's here. We missed you guys!

BFM, about tandem nursing-- I understand the nature of it, but the logistics during pregnancy are what I worry about. Doesn't your milk switch to colostrum at some point during your pregnancy? Does that pose a problem for the nursling's nutrition?
I guess there are no guarantees about losing milk or keeping it during the pregnancy.

Candice, awesome on the date. We are due for a date, but we usually go out during daylight hours which isn't as romantic (though still fun).

Jumping in here, hope that's ok! Your milk switches to colostrum usually around the 8th month, but some women make colostrum a lot earlier. Colostrum doesn't really post a problem because actually it is totally nutrition packed. The only thing is it's also a diuretic (sp?) and so your baby/toddler will totally have newborn poops again!

There definitely isn't any guarantee about keeping milk while pregnant. I got pregnant with Anna when my first was one year old exactly. He was not susbsisting on breastmilk but maybe 50/50. My milk dried up completely when I got to 4/5 mo. pregnant. But at that point he was 17 mo. old and started eating/drinking a lot more, but didn't quit nursing!! He nursed totally for comfort throughout my whole pregnancy, even though I had sore nips! OUCH. Then when my colostrum came back in he was super excited, and when I had milk again, OH BOY. He was in heaven.

For great tandem/pregnancy nursing info the book "Adventures in Tandem Nursing" by Hilary Flowers is great. I think that there would only be a concern about a nursing not getting enough nutrition if they were very young, say, 5-6 mo., when you were halfway through your pregnancy. I have heard of women needing to supplement in that case.

However, for me, I would like Anna to get breastmilk at least until age 2, so I'd like to not get pg again until she's 2 (if we do decide to have a third).

Okay... so for some reason, I never seem to post to the June babies' thread, but here it goes:

LJ is doing great. It has been an adventure and a half for us. I am a first time mom, and I cannot believe that we have survived the first 11 months months. Can any of you believe that he is 11 months already? ... you are all probably wondering how your little one turned 11 months too... .

Anywho... LJ only has 3 bottom teeth, and I am wondering when the others are going to come. The only comfort that I have (which is one of those weird comforts) is that my friend's little one that is 10 months old doesn't have any teeth at all... So that makes me feel like it is okay. Not that I could do anything about it anyway... I guess baby dentures would be an option ... Did I say that out loud?

LJ is impressing us all with his words, his conveniently funny crawl, and his cruising from couch to chair to table to chair to floor to everything else.

I am so excited. I cant believe that he will be 1 on June 1st

PS: Oh, and he is standing up for more than 10 seconds on his own. Also, he loves to mimmick everyone, esp. when he mimmicks me when I am on the telephone, which helps me to remember to hang up . He has now begun using any object as a play telephone... I am so embarressed. He is also pointing at objects and saying : "oooh yook" or "oooh ook" which is "oooh look." ... I am having so much fun with him. So, we are still on a wonderful adventure.

PS Again: Oh yeah, and he says dada, and he says my brothers name, but I thought that he didnt have a name for me until last week... which was when I finally realized that he was calling me by my first name, which is what everyone else calls me
