Best Break-Up Song

Thread Starter
So. After readig "The Dave THread" in TAO I though I would start a thread IN THE APPROPRIATE FORUM for once about best break up songs. You know the ones that "get" how it is you feel.

I contend that Alanis Morrisette's You Outta Know, the Indigo Girls Ghost, and funnily enough Motley Crue's Don't Go Away Mad (Just Go Away), depending on where you are in the break up and which side of it.

Opinions?

I was coming to type "You Outta Know" by Alanis.

"Almost Blue," Elvis Costello. Also, and this is an incredibly lame song and I'm embarrassed, but what are you gonna do? -- "Hold On" by Wilson Phillips got me through a period when I was getting up the courage to leave a lousy relationship. :

"Rear View Mirror" by Pearl Jam was my favorite for a energetic, high type of "moving on" feeling. Have to say I relive that breakup everytime I hear it--in a "thank god I got out of that" way.

Ooh, and LOVE Cowboy Junkies "You will be loved again" and "I wish I were Blind" by Bruce Springsteen....all particular parts/types of break up songs and a lot of Patty Griffin. Oh yes, and "To Lay Me Down" on that Grateful Dead tribute, COwboy Junkies covered it.

...but I also remember listening to a lot of Cranberries and Tom Petty.... and that Green Day song from that Seinfeld finale..."time of your life" something like that...Guess that kind of dates it doesn't it?

Wow, I guess I really used music a LOT during my different break-ups. Nothing better for heartache!

Until recently I would've voted Alanis "you oughta know" but as of late a gf of mine was in a divorce and played this song repeatedly.....
Beyonce's "Irreplaceable"

Here's some of it.... it's great

Standing in the front yard telling me
How I'm such a fool - Talking about
How I'll never ever find a man like you
You got me twisted

You must not know about me
You must not know about me
I could have another you in a minute
matter fact he'll be here in a minute - baby

to the left....everything you own's in a box to the left....

Before He Cheats, Carrie Underwood

"Well I dug my key into the side of his pretty little suped up four wheel drive, carved my name into his leathers seats, took a Louiseville slugger to both headlights, slashed a hole in all four tires, maybe next time he'll think before he cheats...oh, but it won't be on me........"

Or something like that, I'm sure all the words aren't right but you get the idea.

My favorite is Good Woman, by Cat Power... Here are some lyrics:

I will miss your heart so tender
I will love this love forever
This is why I am leavin
And this is why I cant see ya no more
And this is why I am lying
When I say I dont love ya no more

Then there's always Don't Think Twice It's All Right by Bob Dylan

I'm walkin' down that long, lonesome road, babe
Where I'm bound, I can't tell
But goodbye's too good a word, gal
So I'll just say fare thee well
I ain't sayin' you treated me unkind
You could have done better but I don't mind
You just kinda wasted my precious time
But don't think twice, it's all right

Actually, these are two of my most favorite songs of all time!
