Lemon juice in Vinegar mixture?

Hello all,

Well, I'm VERY new to the whole natural cleaners thing and today I'm going to start! I've got spray bottles, vinegar and hydrogen peroxide. BUT I know the my DH is going to freak at the smell of vinegar (he doesn't like the smell of any cleaners really.) I don't have any EOs, so I'm wondering if I used a squirt of lemon juice in my vinegar solution, would that help?

Would it change the disinfectant properties of the Vinegar? Or anything like that...

Well, I was hoping that someone with more experience would reply first, but here goes, and hopefully someone will correct me if I misspeak:

The vinegar smell should dissipate pretty much immediately and really shouldn't be a problem unless your DH's nose (and the rest of him) is pretty hypersensitive. I don't think that lemon juice would change the effectiveness of the solution, probably, though I also don't know that it would mask the smell very effectively. My primary concern would be that it might leave a sticky film...I haven't tried it, but I know that lemon juice is the main ingredient in a lot of home hairspray recipes, which bodes ill.

Sigh...it makes me sad how nobody likes the smell of vinegar. I always wish the smell would last a little longer--it smells like clean and fresh to me!

I'm a newbie too, and I actually use Lemon EO with vinegar and water in my spray bottle. And the smell does dissipate pretty quickly. It's more the rags that have a lingering odor than countertops or floors or whatever was cleaned, so I keep used ones under the sink.

I love cleaning with lemons themselves tho, smells so good!
