Hand prints in plaster of paris then she can paint it.

My dd was covered in paint by the end but that's half the fun

Get a plain white frame and let her color all over it with sharpies and then frame a picture of her. Did this with my daughter for her dad's birthday and it came out really well. Yes, she'll get the marker on her, but it will wear off.

Or, dye thick pasta tubes with alcohol and food coloring and make a bracelet or necklace with pipe cleaners or shoe laces. Here is how to dye pasta: http://www.barillaus.com/Kids_Party__Dying_Pasta.aspx

I helped ds make a special tshirt by putting his foot prints on with fabric paint. This was for dh's first father's day so I also wrote Father's Day 2002 on it. You could do this on a canvas bag instead of a tshirt if the grandmas aren't likely to wear tshirts (I hate wearing unisex ones, myself).

Foot Flower Bouquet! We did this with DS one year for Easter, I think.

Stamp his foot in different colors on white paper. Add stems and leaves with marker (he may be able to help with this). Use construction paper to make a pot to glue on top. Done!
