why is son latching on WITH HIS TEETH???

Hi all...My ds is 8 mo old and eating some solids. He's never had a bottle, been strictly breastfed. I'm about 4 mo pregnant right now. It seems like in the last two weeks or so, ds has started latching on with his teeth!! (He's had 8 since he was 6 mo old!) It is so painful every time he latches on! I've tried to pull his bottom jaw down to get his mouth open wider but a) it doesn't seem to help, and b) this really ticks him off! He's always seemed to kind of suck my breast into his mouth instead of opening very big to latch on, but I don't see that as the problem now.

What is going on? Am I just super sensitive because I'm pregnant? It didn't feel like this when I was pregnant with him and breastfeeding ds#1 so I don't think that is the problem...what can I do?

Have you ever checked him for tongue tie? i never knew my DD was tongue tied and she latched on with her teeth from the moment she got them 9at 4 months) I nursed her for 40 months and never knew why i always had a lovely ring of teeht marks around my areola. The DENTIST told me about tongue-tie when she was 7 YEARS-OLD. She chose to not have it clipped.

With my son, I was on the lookout for it from birth and we ended up having his clipped at 6 weeks by our naturopath in her office. No tears, no crying, 2 drops of blood, but a WORLD OF DIFFERENCE instantly with his latch.
