Cervix question?

Thread Starter
I have a question regarding the softness of the cervix during pregnancy.

I have been feeling a little bit of pinching today, but nothing that hurts. Sort of like an urgency to go to the bathroom, but it literally lasts a half a second. I haven't felt anything like this so far, and it felt like it was in my cervix, so I thought I would check it out.

I was expecting my cervix to feel sort of hard like it normally does, but it feels VERY soft, and I can feel an area about as big as the tip of my finger where it dips in in the middle.

IS THIS NORMAL??

This is my first baby, and I am not freaking out or worried about the babe, she's still moving around and her heart-rate is fine. I feel fine, other than the pinching I keep getting. I just don't know if I should call my midwife or if by 32 weeks this is a normal occurrence. :

Thanks!

It's ok for your cervix to change. Sometimes it will go from soft back to firm a few times. You can mention it to your MW, but unless you are having regular contractions I wouldn't worry too much.

I have the same thing (or I had - haven't checked in a couple of weeks) starting at about week 30. My doctor did a cervical check at my request, and said I'm about a fingertip dialated, and that it was perfectly normal during the third trimester. The pinching comes and goes, sometimes stronger than others, and I'm told it's only an issue if my cervix starts to shorten, and/or I start contracting as well. So put your feet up and relax!
