Help! My toddler lost her tooth...

My 21 mo dd shattered her top front tooth this evening. The dentist tried to get it out but couldn't get all of it (shattered into the root). We have to go to an oral surgeon and the rest of her tooth won't come out until Monday at the very earliest but maybe not for a week if she has to get it done in the hospital. Poor sweet baby girl

Anyway, she tried to nurse but it really hurts her. Once the tooth comes out the dentist says it probably won't hurt her for more than a day. Thankfully, our dentist if very pro breastfeeding and never once suggested not to nurse her (in fact, she suggested I nurse her between the shot and the tooth pulling). We really hoped the whole tooth would come out tonight but no luck. She normally nurses A LOT! Thankfully, she doesn't nurse to sleep, except in the very early morning but we can work with that. Because of a strange afternoon, she hasn't really nursed well since this morning. I'm really worried that she is going to wean during the wait to get her tooth out. What should I do? I will, of course, continue to offer to nurse her and hope that it feels better when the paid meds kick in for her. But my guess is that it will continue to hurt to suck until the tooth comes out. Should I get a pump? I've never pumped (well, not with this one anyway). Should I rent a hospital grade or just borrow a friend's medela? Should I just hand express? If I do pump, should I try to feed her the milk from a cup or will that wean her to a cup instead? :

Any and all suggestions and advice are appreciated.

Ouchy. I would continue to nurse as much as she can but I would also get a pump because it will probably be less than usual. The pump is good to keep your supply and curb any engorgement. If she isn't able to nurse much I would consider a cup - not for all the time but just to get some of those missing extra calories. The cup itself isn't going to cause her to wean.
Hope she feels better soon!
