Thread Starter

DD is doing well and nursing great!
She has gianed about 2-2.5 pounds. SHe looks just like her daddy.

How bout yours??

We're doing great too!!
Romi now weighs about 9.7lbs (from 8.4lbs at birth), nurses like a champ and lets mommy sleep at night between nursing sessions. She nurses quickly too, about 10 minutes per session, which is great!!

Her brother is in love with her, but is a little rough. I try to keep him away from her for that reason (he's out of his cast, for those who know our story, but isn't walking yet)

I think she looks like me

Hi Mamas, I was wondering whose gonna start a thread! hoping to make some friends with more moms with April 2007 babies!

My 2nd boy is born on April Fool's and I definitely think he looks more like me! My first is 20 months and he looks like his dad, time for my share!

bumping!

Hi Mamas! Nice to see a thread started over here now that the April 07 babies are all (I think!) born now.

My dd2 is three weeks old now and is doing great. She's a great sleeper and serious nurser - I'm not sure how much she's gained but is starting to grow out of some of her clothes already! Her brother and sister are crazy about her and they really are a big help to have around... I think that watching a baby grow up will be an amazing experience for them to have.

I've had thrush once and mastitis twice already, which has been hard. I had the same thing with my last baby so I just have to keep nursing and resting and it will eventually clear up.

Yay! Our own little spot!

Scout is doing great! She weighed 8lbs 5.5 oz at birth. At one week, she weighed 7lbs 13oz. At 2 weeks, she was up to 8lbs 8oz. I'm really curious to know what she weighs now, at 3 weeks.

She's a wonderful eater, even though nursing was rough at first. (I had big blood blisters on the tips of my nipples for the first week. Yikes!) She has a great latch now and my poor boobies feel alot better. Whew!

I tried cloth dipes on her for the 1st time yesterday. She was not a happy camper. She obviously doesn't like feeling wet (the disposables make her feel pretty dry, I suppose). I changed her very frequently, but she was still unusually cranky. I'm thinking about cutting up strips of fleece and laying them in her dipes because I have heard that will wick away the moisture. (we're using pre-folds/pro-wraps) You ladies have any thoughts on how to keep her feeling dry? (I may x-post this in cloth dipe forum too)

Our first thread! DS is growing a lot - but not sure exactly how much... BFing is getting better but I think sense his crib is in our room and I always pick him up before he is fully awake he has trouble latching at night - unless I turn the lights on...he wakes up a little bit then. He's 11 days old and starting to get more awake and alert during the day - and whenever I go to pick him up he squeezes his head in and towards me like he knows I am going to pick him up! He has learned to sort of "scoot" from side to side in his crib - he kind of arches he back and flops - so far just back on his back...but I guess this must be the beginning of him learning to roll over to his tummy.

I think my baby looks so much like his daddy - right down to the dark olive skin and black hair...I love it! I have noticed a little resemblance of myself in the past couple days - I think maybe his eyes and mouth.

I can't believe I can finally post here!!! Ashton is not even 48hrs old yet so I am a bit behind you all. He is nursing pretty well although he is not emptying out my breast(s). I am hoping he will start because they really need it right now.

Kewpie-o - I found that the bum genius or fuzzy bunz seemed to work best on Peanut. He didn't like the wet feeling either. The company that makes Bum Genius also makes a pocket type thing you can slip a cotton babie or something similar in and then put into a cover. It seems to pull the moisture away from the skin and they aren't very expensive, although they may be a bit big for your dd at this point.

DD is doing really well. We have her 2 week appointment with the Dr. on monday, so I will get an official weight - I think she is around 9 lbs, she was 8 lbs 4 oz at birth.

Once we got help with breastfeeding it is going great - although I still need about 3 pillows for props. I'm not sure I will ever be able to nurse in public.

Sleeping is going ok - Although DD and I are sleeping most of the evening in the Living room while DH is in the bedroom. But it's the only way he can get sleep so he can go to work, do the cooking etc. and it's still easier for me to BF on the couch with all the props. But it is getting better.

We started with the cloth diapers about a week ago, once I was up to doing the laundry.

kewpie-o: DD seemed cranky about the diaper switch too, but about 2-3 days in shew seemed to settle down. We have only used the Prefolds and covers so far. Although I think I have noticed that her bottom is less red with the cloth.

Kyra is doing very well. She is 11 days old, and doing the normal newborn things. She sleeps well throughout the night, waking to nurse and going right back to sleep (we co-sleep). She spends a LOT of time during the day awake and just looking around. Very alert, intently studying whatever her eyes can focus on.
I have no idea how much she weighs, but I do have a sling scale, so maybe I will weigh her this morning As long as she isn't over 12 pounds, that is! She has been in cloth diapers since birth, and goes through at least 18-24 each day. It seems like I change her, and 20 minutes later she is soaked again. Thank goodness we have a nice sized stash of pre-folds as well as lots of fitteds. When she was born, she was already too big for several of the soakers I knit for her, so I have been knitting like mad to make more. It is fun now, to know I can make them girly too. I need more yarn!

I am glad to see everyone here.

hi everyone!

we are adjusting pretty well. i've been out and about a bunch with both boys this week, so that's a good sign that i'm feeling rather "normal" again. i always have a rough transition with hormones (even though i took powdered placenta this time for a couple weeks). ds1 is potty training right now (day5), which has added a little extra to going out b/c we bring his little pot a long and have to go to the car to pee/poo

happy spring, everyone!

Fleece liners are the best options for prefolds IMO. They're the only thing that I found to wick the moisture away.
I'm about to dive into my Fuzzy Bunz stash right now, she was too small for the size small before, but she's getting so chubby that I think she'll fit into them now, yippy!!!

I've made it!

J is doing good. He's going to be 6 weeks in a few days. At our one month appointment he weighed 12lbs, was 8lbs a day after birth. He's nursing like a little champ. He's a noisy little one though. He loves to grunt and make noises all day long, it's cute.

OK, Daniel actually let me put him down. I'm shocked!

He's doing pretty well. He is 12 days old today. He was 9 pounds at birth, and 8 pounds when we went to the doc's last week. I didn't believe it at first--I thought there must have been some kind of mistake--but looking at pictures, I actually can believe it. He was a very "latch-on, latch-off" nurser that first week and his poops were bright green. So, I've really been focusing on keeping him nursing long enough to get the hindmilk.

We also had to do a bilirubin heel stick. It ended up just being 12.5, so I'm just nursing like crazy.

My hubby has been home for 2 1/2 weeks and he is driving me buggy. I don't know how people in countries with extended paternity leave stand it, !

An April 06 mommy chiming in to say congrats to all of the April 07 mommies and to say I can't believe there is an April 07 thread!! The first year goes by sooo fast. Enjoy your little ones while they are still teeny tiny. It is the best time. Good Luck to all of you!

NAK

Well Abby is 3 wks 1 day. Overall, she is GREAT!! I am a low milk supply Mama & only have to supplement 4-8oz a day (BM only). Last monday she weighed 6 lbs 1oz.....2 past BW(maybe, my surgical report said she weighed 5lbs 12oz, not 5lbs 15oz. who knows??? I have never had a baby make it past birth weight so fast! YEAH More Milk Plus!)
Sleeping was better, but now she has a cold (DD#1 brought it home) which makes it hard for her to breathe. I have it too along w/mastitis in my left breast. I woke up this am with fever, body aches & a nice hard red spot on my breast!! NOT FUN!!!
So like I said, overall she is great. We are adjusting. Right now I do not feel well at all, but know it will pass. Loads of nursing & bed rest is my Mothers Day weekend.

I hope I can still hang with the April mamas even though E decided to show up in March. I feel like I know everyone :

Ethan is 7 weeks old tommorrow!! He is smiling and cooing and looooves to get his diaper changed and have "naked butt" time He weighs around 11 lbs and his 0-3 mos jammies are getting snug in the feet! He's not a big fan of sleep and only takes about one nap a day. He loves to nurse nurse nurse every hour or so. He refuses the pacifier like "what is that plastic thing you're trying to shove in my mouth?? : " So we gave up and the boob is his pacifier. Oh, and he rolled over a week or so ago, from tummy to back, but he hasn't done it since.

I had my 6 week PP checkup and everything looks great "downstairs". I got a scrip for the mini pill, which we don't even need right now since my libido is in the toilet. Poor DH

NAK. Up for a late-night/ early-morning feeding. Thanks, ladies, for your responses to my cloth/wetness question. I have a couple yards of fleece chillin' in my laundry room closet. Maybe I'll have time to cut some up into rectangles to lay in her PF's later. I'm totally going to talk DH into springing for some medium Fuzzi Bunz for when she gets bigger. I bet DD would like those.

Wow - I feel so refreshed.....she slept from 11p to 3a tonight. : I don't know what to do with myself!

Wow! I can't believe we have our own thread already!
Things are going pretty well here...just getting used to juggling (and nursing!) a toddler and nb.
Arlo is nursing well, he was 8lbs 12.5 oz at his 3 wk appt. (from 6lbs8oz at birth) and growing out of his nb clothes.
We are using a combo of cloth and sposies b/c we just have soooo much laundry. Finn is also still in (cloth) diapers so it's quite a bit. I'm going to make some fleece liners as well.
A usually sleeps for 3 hour stretches at night, but is a real grunter and takes a little while to get back to sleep after nursing. We all cosleep and F hardly ever wakes in the night which is great. I was a bit worried he would wake every time his brother did.
He loves to be worn in the sling or wrap and also like to sleep in his carseat : with a blanket touching his face. It's the only time I can set him down! It's great because I can spend a bit of one on one time with F.
All in all, things are lovely and the weather has been beautiful.
It's great to see everyone over here and hope we all have a great mothers day tomorrow!
Anika

eta Arlo also won't take a soother, but wants to suck all the time. But if he sucks constantly, he then pukes...alot. Not just a bit of spit up, but a good puking! Any suggestions? He HATES when I try to give him a soother...
