You know, when I read how much the US gives Isreal, Afganistan, now Iraq and still Bosnia and who knows what other countries, and then on top of that how much money goes to the military and the politicians, and then on top of that how much DEBT the US has, it makes me wonder what % of the US government is actually spent on the US Citizens? Any idea anyone? It is not like I begrudge the spending, I'm just curious as to what % of the budget really goes to the poeple?

MUCHO info here. It is hard to wrap ones mind around HOW F-NG HUGE our budget is. Sooooooo much money yet ppl still have hardships, aren't educated, and starve......................

Federal Budget

This site has many conservative links................read them with that in mind.

You can do a search for each of the line items (ie: Health and Human Services) to discover what they are..............

Thanks, but it is overwhelming. Maybe it would be a good idea for some political intern to sit down and divide the costs up and see how much is spent on the people vs. the political/government machine and outside interests. KWIM? I started thinking about this when faced with people who think the US is not a violent country. When one sees how much is spent on the military and it's weapons, etc . . . well, I think it is pretty good proof that the country is based on violent force - not so much on people oriented. Then I wondered how much WAS actually spent on the tax payers and/or poor of the US. Thus came my question. I'm too tired and lazy and have to start back work tomorrow, so, not, I'm not doing the research, but you are a dear for supplying it! It is interesting to peruse.

As one piece, the Kaiser Family Foundation estimates that Medicaid (just Medicaid; nothing else) will cost the feds and the states (together) $286 billion dollars in 2003. The states will pay about $123 billion of that figure, with the feds paying the rest. At the same time, the states, collectively, have about a $70 billion shortfall this year.
