What are these bumps on DD's upper arm?

I'm guessing that these are some kind of allergic reaction. They don't bother her at all, but I've noticed them on other kids. One boy that I've noticed with them is terribly clingy and is generally very unhappy. My DD has been this way lately as well. Not sleeping well at all either.

We do have a lot of food allergies, and I just found out that I have Celiac diseas, and DD probably does as well. So, she may just be getting rid of the last of the gluten in her system.

Anyone know what these are? Should I be concerned?
TIA

You should describe them.

That said, bumps on upper arms . . . keratosis pilaris? I've had it my whole life. My first dermatologist said it was just how my skin detoxes.

Oddly enough, they tend to show up when I lose weight (burn fat) and go away if my weight stabilizes. They went away a year or two after I went GF (weight stabilized), but returned during pregnancy (lost a lot of weight initially).

I generally "treat" the bumps with scrubby gloves (exfoliation), gentleness, and sunlight.

My DD and I have the same thing you describe, but she also has the bumps on her upper thighs. I agree with pp...that it's probably KP. I've often wondered about the detox connection, as I have extremely reactive skin. Now that I'm on a special, restricted diet, the bumps are almost completely gone.

My ds and I were just diagnosed with a dairy allergy (among other things). He has bumps on his arms and cheeks. They are very small and in patches. The ND believes these are a reaction to dairy.
Just wanted to let you know.

I had KP my entire life, and they went away for the first time when I eliminated corn from my diet (for my allergic nursling).

they can be a deficiency of EFA's, they can be an allergic reaction, and they can be indicative of a vitamin A deficiency. Either way we treat it with high vitamin Cod Liver oil which in a roundabout way addresses all three. You can do a trial of CLO at high doses and see if it changes.

Bumping this thread - dd has these bumps on her upper arms as well, and no other real obvious allergy symptoms. If it is an allergic reaction, does anyone know if it's more likely to be an IgG type reaction, and or an IgE type reaction? I'm wondering if it's worth the trouble to bring her to an allergist for testing (insurance covered), or have her re-IgG tested (she was tested clear 8 months ago, but she was 10 months old then and not eating much) with our Naturopath (not insurance covered).

Just chiming in that they sound like KP to me as well. I probably got them around your DD's age, and they moved to my upper thighs in high school. I got pregnant and they exploded all over my body, even my belly. I HATE THEM. My sister had them, and eliminated milk and eggs and her skin is beautiful. Now that I am discovering DS's sensitivities, I know I just need to eliminate dairy for a trial.

So anyway - I think they certainly could be related to food allergies.
