Kathy- I laughed when I read about you trying to cross your eyes I also love the name Nathan

Andrea- Congrats on your first!! What exactly is Hummus?

Amanda- Congrats on your first!! I love arts and crafts too! My aunt was trying to teach me to quilt last time I was back home, but I just don't have the time to do it.

Aimee-Hope you can get your appetite back soon!!

We have a lot of FTMs here! I'm very excited for you and it finally happened last july/august. Now I can't wait to go through it all over again!

For all the seasoned mommies any all important wisdom you'd like to impart to the first timers?

My advice is don't sweat the small stuff. Don't let people's advice scare you either! You will get unwanted and stupid advice sometimes. in advance!

Congrats Gloria!!! Are you looking to have NCB?
Guacamole....I just never can get myself to eat it
post #16 of 77
I hope I get my appetite back too, I'm starving but nothing sounds even remotely good. My poor family is going to have to suffer with minimal cooking suppers for the next little while...I feel bad for them.

Oh and I have to agree that you need to take what people tell you with a grain of salt. Just smile and continue on your way. A lady stopped me in the Home Depot when I was pregnant with our first that asked if my "turkey timer" had popped yet. I asked her what she was talking about and asked to see my belly button to see if I was "ready" yet. I just chuckled...it never did pop. Guess my boys weren't ever "ready" Crazy lady!

Name: Whitney
Age: 29
Location: central MA
Husband/Partners name(age): Greg (36)
Children's name(s)/age(s): This is my first pregnancy!
Due Date: very uncertain, LMP and ovulation erratic. Early Jan?
Hopeful for B/G: Would love either, had my first baby dream about a girl.
Homebirth or Hospital: leaning towards homebirth, some practical issues to sort out with tiny, second floor apartment and insurance. I may set up at my parents' house and stay there a week or two for "lying in".
CD or Sposies: Haven't decided yet. Elimination communication is also part of this decision.
Favorite Food: Everything, man! I have been ravenous. Just had some great curry.
Least Favorite Chore: putting away clean clothes.
Favorite Color: Blue
Can you cross your eyes: Yes
What board do you lurk on but not post: All over, as I am new to MDC
Addition Fun Facts: I'm an avid social dancer, I love tango and salsa and swing. My husband and I are long-distance hikers, we got engaged at the end of 3 weeks' hiking on top of Mt. Whitney, the highest peak in the continental US. I'm halfway through medical school, so my perspective is a little odd. I'll be rotating through a clerkship in high-risk obstetrics in October which will be very emotional. I haven't decided what I want to be when I grow up but right now I'm leaning towards ER medicine.

Congrats! The closest I'll ever get to ER medicine is watching ER :P I just don't have the stomach! You can also check with the midwives and see if they have birthing suites in office. Mine does and if we aren't in our townhome by then I'll probably birth there.

Aimee- Thats nuts!! I don't have a pregnant story, but the other day I was buying a can of Formula (long story short BF didn't work for DS and I, but I'm gonna work harder for this baby!) and the elderly lady at the counter looked at me and had the gall to say "SO do babies really like this stuff?" I then proceeded to defend myself and now looking back I should have left the can there and walked away. *sigh*

Hi Mommy2Austin

NCB = natural child birth? That's a good question. I don't know. I would like to. I feel like I have a good raport with by OB and we have our first official pregnancy visit on 5/29, so this is something on my list to talk about.

I've read a lot about OB vs. midwife, hospital vs. birth center vs. homebirth, natural vs. intervened childbirth and I'm still on the fence about a lot of things. I'm hoping to get some opinions and different perspectives.
