trouble nursing in evenings

Hi all,

DS has been good at nursing since birth, but sometimes late in the day he has trouble.

Sometimes, in the evenings, he either doesn't latch on (shakes his mouth around the nipple but won't latch) or nurses for a bit and then kicks his feet and shakes his hands and cries and pulls away. I feel like maybe I have less milk (I'm definately not as full feeling as earlier in the day), but when he lets go there's milk coming out nonetheless.

Is this a colicky sign, or a sign of gas - kicking feet and shaking hands? What's up when he's nursing fine and then pulls off and cries (later in the day) or won't latch on at all, when usually he's fine?

Thanks!!

Can you feel yourself letting down? Maybe he is getting more milk than you think and it kind of scares him? Tho most women make more milk early in the morning (and at night) than the evening..

Or can he just be more tired during the evening?

It would make more sense that maybe he's tired - if he can manage to nurse he sleeps hard after, tho he cries a lot before sleeping...
