What would you do?

I posted about a week ago looking for some answers on how to deal with my IBS without using any medication. I am still going strong with breastfeeding and the drug I take is considered a Category C drug for pregnancy and breastfeeding. So, I've been really torn about taking the drug, but my IBS is really acting up. In addition, I've developed an anxiety disorder over it throughout the years and THAT has started to get in the way of my work.
SO.....I went to the doctor today and talked about my options with him. I only go in to work 1 day a week for 8 hours. We talked about taking my one pill on only that day (one pill actually does the trick) and then pumping and dumping when I get home. My doctor (who never likes women to take any meds while breastfeeding) says he has 0% reservation about this. Obviously, my percentage is higher than that or I wouldn't be posting this.
What would you do?

Have you looked the medication up on Dr. Hale's website? Most medications have NOT been tested well in breastfeeding moms, but Dr. Hale has done some great research on what is safe and what isn't. I can look it up fo ryou if you want ... what is the name of the medication?

I would do it. If the doctor is one that doesn't like women taking meds while nursing, I would trust him to know whether or not it lasts more than a day in your system.

He obviously wants very much to protect you and baby. So let go of your anxiety and trust your doctor.

It isn't like he's one of those doctors that will happily prescribe you whatever and just say, "Sorry, you gotta take this. Time to wean. Chop chop." So put some faith in him, and go forward with your life. It IS possible to balance nursing and feeling comfortable yourself.

A little faith is okay sometimes. Especially in someone who obviously cares and is trying to help you find a solution that keeps everyone safe as well as happy.

I'm a nursing pharmacist, and drugs in lactation has become my special hobby, so I'd be happy to look in multiple locations to get a complete answer to your question. My "gut reaction" (sorry for the pun) is that the better your tummy is functioning, the better nutrition you will give your baby. Let me know the name of the drug in question, and I'll see what I can find out!
