mold/dog allergy

Alright, I have a tough one. My neighbor has always had sinus problems, terrible headaches, and for the past year, bad dizzy spells. After countless tests, she went to an allergist to see if that was the problem. They found that she has a really bad mold allergy, in fact, they said that mold was growing in her lungs. She has been instructed to stay out of their finished basement, which is where her three yo plays all day, and rip up all carpeting and put in hardwoods. If these methods aren't effective, they may have to move to a home with no basement.

Worst of all, she tested positive for dog. They have a mini toy poodle, so it has hair, not fur, but the doc said that doesn't matter. This little dog is the princess of the family and is like another child.

Does any one know of any methods/remedies to help lessen these allergies in order to manage them so they don't loose their home and could keep their dog?

Thanks!

They should bath the dog weekly, at minimum. That will help a LOT. Poodles are usually fine for dog allergic people, but sometimes not. Weekly baths will help a LOT, though. She should get a GOOD shampoo that will not dry the dog. I like Natures Specialties. I have the 800 number somewhere. Their Aloe one is really good.

As far as the basement, she definitely should get rid of ALL the carpet. Laminate would be a good idea. Then she should get an air cleaner. Shaklee's one is good. Also, a dehumidifier down there would help with any mold. Can they get a mold test? That could help identify areas of mold in the walls.

Vitamin C in the form of SA really helps allergy suffers.

The poodle should be fine being they are non-shedders and then with the weekly bathing it should help.
