I just talked to my ped. about the vaccines and had asked for all the inserts. She was showing them to me and said that if we did 12 month shots that dd would not get proquad becuase the manufacturer is running out of it...? so does that mean they stopped making it or what. She said that instead dd would get the MMR and Varicella seperate. Do they really just run out sometimes? I guess it doesn't really matter to me since she won't be getting any of them, but I am curious about that.

This book feels good in your hands. The paper is heavyweight, and the illustrations flow perfectly.

I think they've been having manufacturing issues, but are trying to resolve it. So it should be back before too long.

I now varicella is one of the most difficulty viruses to "grow" and keep infective after storage, so that's probably why. There can be a lot of reasons why their yield isn't what it should be. All kinds of things can go wrong, but be resolvable.
Honestly, what I'm wondering is why Merck's being honest and not just selling a crappy product anyway...lol...it's very uncharacteristic of them to "do the right thing" like that...lol...it's probably because the CP vax has been getting a bad rap lately anyway, and they don't need any additional "ineffectiveness" issues brought into the limelight.
ETAA:
Actually...now that I think about it, for all we know, they have been just selling a crappy product for forever. Maybe they've been having manufacturing issues for years, (part of why there are so many vaxed kids still getting CP and outbreaks in fully vaxed schools, etc.) and are just now increasing the viral load in their CP vaxes to make up for a low viral production, coz they've gotten caught...lol....hmmmm....

It takes 3 times as much of their varicella bulk stock to make ProQuad as it does Varivax. So until they can get their bulk production up, they're sticking with MMR & Varivax.

I wonder if they make more money selling them separately than together.
