I heard in Europe and Scandanavia they do not induce within 24 hours of PROM.

Any good articles about this and outcomes?

Thanks,

Don't know, but I worked with a doc that was filling in for our local OB while said OB was on vacation (only 1 OB delivering at this hospital) and he would send home anyone ruptured (non GBS+), but not in active labor with instructions to return in 24 hours if she hadn't entered active labor.

He also gave the GBS+ moms the option of 1 dose abx IV then send home on PO or to stay.

Great guy, wish I could have cloned him!!

In BC Canada. I have had ruptured membranes over 24 hours with no active labor for my last 4 pregnancies two different midwife practices cited a study where moms with no fever, who were gbs neg, and full term pregnancies, and no internal exams showed no notable increase in the rate of infection during the first 72 hours after rupture i'm sorry I don't have a link or the name of the study. But during my prolonged ruptured membranes the midwives were required to do an OB consult and the ob's were agreeable to wait it out as well

I had a feeling it was in Canada (or some where other than the USA).

Thanks for sharing! Nice to hear about care providers who are willing to look at research and implement it accordingly.
