How many times do you heat leftovers before you decide they are compost bound:

I reheat leftovers until they are unsafe to eat or just look gross.

I will say that we are really good leftover eaters at our house. If for some reason I anticipate we won't eat all of them, I freeze a portion.

I am asking because

say I have a bowl of leftovers. I heat them up thinking we will eat it all. We don't. Do I save it again or compost it?

I will save something through 2 heat ups as long as it seems okay.

I tend to limit our leftovers to a 7 day stay in our fridge. If they've been hanging around longer, they've outstayed their welcome.

As for re-heats, until they look too worn out to be worthwhile.

I do about 7 days and/or 2 heat ups. Whatever comes first.

I'll keep eating it til it's gone, or it's gross. I usually try to freeze a portion if I suspect I'm not going to eat it before it hits the gross point.

Composting cooked food makes me mad.

Compost it. Food shouldn't be reheated more than once.
