Not only do I believe in the power of experience, i.e., second birth, but I also believe in the power of Reiki and just having someone there to fully support you. Odin's journey began two days after EDD. This time, I knew exactly when to go to the hospital (we couldn't afford HB 
: ) and made it there at a 7. I weathered each contraction very quietly this time, focusing on breathing and letting the sensation move through my body. I knew exactly when to begin pushing and did so for only 20 minutes before he emerged. Of course, I thought it was a lot longer; don't we all??? I did not tear and he came out w/ the most beautiful cry. He BF right away w/ eyes wide open, staring into mine. My friend Ruth performed Reiki the entire 5 hours. Although the room was full of nurses, I kept my eyes closed and focused only on the work. I was in complete control, telling them a couple of times, "No talking, please," because some whispers were distracting. I believe that a woman needs to have the right support and believe in herself and, from there, a natural birth is the only way to go. My second son was born so alert and responsive.Of course, I need to mention that my husband was amazing, just sitting back and letting me do my work; he knew I would ask for help. And now, we're in love all over again!
