Just curious. Now that school is out ( I am free to read whatever I want. I was going to skim thru my "Parenting without Shouting or Spanking" for the 4th time but I got distracted by Simkin's Labor Progress Handbook. It's an awesome book; I have to say.

Are you usually a biography type person? I have a biograpy on Hank Williams that I sorta want to read. I bought it for Dh though.

I won't go on about how envious I am that you're done school... Right now I'm reading about 5 books. Three of them are about Louis Riel (more biographies, it's a trend) and the North-West Rebellion of 1885 (for school) and I'm really just sort of making really slow progress on them because my mind is baby-baby-baby right now. I'm also reading Dr. Sears' breastfeeding book that my cousin sent me, and also leafing through this silly book she sent called Baby Laughs by Jenny McCarthy...it's pretty funny..,

Hey OT--but Laura, ya still feeling like you're gonna have that baby soon!?

i just finished extroidinary people by Robert May i think.. I really enjoyed this escapism fiction mystery (not too scary). I am reading too loud too bright too fast too tight, because it pertains to my job....i'm not loving it. Lots more on this subject that i love. I also have open spiritual midwifery, the library finally called my name off the list for that one, YEAH . I am doling out the birth stories in short doses... I also have open Gaia's Garden. A book on permaculture... Short attention span, lots of books.

i am reading the nympho and other maniacs by irving wallace. it's a fairly entertaining book about women throughout history who were famous mistresses, prostitutes, sexual deviates, etc.

i have completely burnt myself out on reading anything about childbirth, child raising. i am officially giving myself a break.

Me too

I have all I can do to focus for a few hours each day on technical reading/writing I have to do for work. It took me 3x longer than I expected to write a short memo... clients and co-workers keep bugging me: "when do you think you'll be able to get me <this or that>" I just can't muster any sense of urgency for anything. When their requests bother me, I just log off and stop answering business calls :

TEARING through and loving:

"Waiting for Daisy: A Tale of Two Continents, Three Religions, Five Infertility Doctors, an Oscar, an Atomic Bomb....by Peggy Orenstein"

it's reminding me about how it felt NOT getting pregnant all those years...how bad i wanted to get pregnant....i thought it might help me get mentally geared up for labor and birth, and you know what, it really has!

so, loving it. loving it . so well written, like a crazy adventure story -- but about babies funny, sad, honest, everything.

Just barely started Camel Club by Baldacci but never make it more than a couple of pages before I fall asleep. Ditto TV and movies.

I also skim through "Happiest Baby on the Block" every few nights. My first two were such great babies, really mellow. I'm afraid this baby will rock my world. We'll see! I want to be prepared (is that possible?)
