So, our little one has finally arrived. I am so happy to report that I have a beautiful baby boy. He made his appearance Sunday morning, May 6, at 9:19 am. He weighs an even 9 lbs. and is an even 21 inches long. We are still working on a name, as Dh decided at the last moment that he didn't want to use what we'd previously chosen.
It was not a particularly long labor, only about 8 hours, but it was *very* hard. I woke up around 1:30 am dreaming that I'd been kicked in the belly, and contractions stayed pretty intense. They would peak and ease down, but really only completely gave me a break about every 6-8 contractions. It hurt like the dickens, and I had a really hard time staying relaxed and focused. I think I pushed for at least 3 hours, as he was asynclitical, which made it hard to move him down and out. However, even though he is my biggest baby (his head is an inch bigger than any of my other 3), and he came sort of sidways, and I had to work really hard to get him out, I did not have any tearing. Needless to say, I am happy to be this side of the birth!
He is nursing like a champ, and is well-adored by his siblings. They are currently fighting over who gets to hold him. I am having to fight them off just to feed him!
