Will/would you lie about your due date?

Last time around our midwife gave us great advice, that we should tell everyone the baby was due a little later than she really was so that I wouldn't have everyone calling and bugging me with "Is the baby here yet?!???" durring my last month. Too bad for us we had already told everyone. This time around I was thinking it would be kinda nice to be able to make up my own due date

The whole "due date" thing seems so arbitrary to me anyway, and our anniversary is only 12 days after my EDD (according to some website) I think I will tell everyone our baby is due on Feb 5th, our anniversary

Ha! I'm totally doing that this time around. I'm just telling everyone the beginning of January. The "official" date is January 2, so I figure, I'm not really lying, just not being specific.

I totally hear you on the two kids in three years. DD#1 was born a few weeks after our 2nd anniversary, then DD#2 was born a few weeks after our 3rd anniversary. Today is our 4th anniversary and I'm already 6 weeks along with baby #3. :

due dates are so frustrating. my second child was "2 weeks late" and though my midwives didnt at all pressure me because they are great i stil felt kind of like "whats wrong with me" which is crazy..she was born so big and healthy and perfectly on time.

im not in this DDC but i had to post because i agree.. using a Bi of a later DD is a good idea..

I"m just saying beginning of January. If I say later, I might be expected to drive 3 hours to go to Christmas, which I'm normally fine with. HOwever, doing that while 9 months pregnant doesn't sound like fun at all. Also, my mom went early twice, so I'm wondering if I will. If I lie about my EDD, people would think my early baby would be a preemie, and I don't want to scare people needlessly.

I've never gone early on my own, so I think I am just going to say "mid January". That's close enough.

What Ashley said....If i lie and push it back, people will expect me to make long trips on Xmas, which is at 39 weeks for me....NOT gonna happen!

I already told me family when i visited last week that dh and i "called dibs" on Xmas, that iut will be at our house this year..so everyone has been warned they need to come here this year!! .(let's just hope I'm not in labor!!)_

I'll tell everyone my due date, and then just shut off the phone after Christmas My first came right on his due date so I'm hoping the same with this one.

Becaue my inlaws are super nosy if the opportunity presents itself, I will tell them I am due the end of January even thought I'm due Jan 2!

Less stress for me and more happy thoughts towards them!

I will totally tell people later than the actual time. I did that with ds but I STILL had people calling me - I mean people that had never called me and haven't called me since. My FIL sent out an email to about 150 people (he sends daily updates to ALL the family!) that his first grandchild would be here any day - umm, it was 3-4 weeks later that ds actually arrived.

I haven't decided exactly what I am going to tell people though. I tried being not too specific (just saying early June) last time but several people kept pressing until I told them an actual date.

I am totally about stretching the truth here, but last time i was a week and a half over due. (which happened to be the exact day my midwife told me i would have the baby). I am not positive about this pregnancy yet, but i think that not only will i push my due date back a little but i'm also going to keep it a secret from my family for a few months because they just stress me out. The less time pregnant the better. haha.

Sounds like a great idea to me lol. I'm all for keeping it a secret for a while, I'm just worried that my mom will feel hurt that I didn't tell here sooner. But she's such a gossip that I know she will tell everyone the moment I tell her, so kinda a no win situation there.

My mother in law told the whole world last october when i was pregnant. I hadn't told most of my close friends yet and they ended up finding out from strangers who worked at a local restuarant. It made it worse when we misscarried because then I had to explain to strangers why I wasn't showing. She will definately be kept in the dark this time.

i have no intention of telling anyone. i have 2 friends irl who know, but one is pg herself and I know she won't say anything. the other is a friend at the Deaf school in Cols. it's very unlikely she'll say anything to anyone, either.

if i have my way, people will just think i'm getting fat again. i plan on telling everyone who doesn't figure it out by seeing me AFTER i have my successful home birth. i don't want the hassle.

i've decided if people suspect i'm pg, i'm telling them before Valentine's Day, lol. I carry HUGE anyway, so no one will be able to tell either way as by 20 weeks, i look full term. . ..

i've had 2 c/s - one was failed induction; one was failed vbac in hospital. so you can understand why well meaning family may be apprehensive aout home birth even though it's the safest place for me. . . .

I think I'm going to stick with my EDD. Last time I didn't get too much hassle and it's easier to just remember one date. The other thought is to just say "January" instead of "January 10". I figure the baby will be born about January 19. Or maybe "mid-January". I started doing that last time, but I just ended up with the continuing questions of "when" and demand for a specific date and that was more annoying.
