induction stories?

If anyone's been induced, esp those who had the gel applied, please share your stories as I'm a bit scared about all of this. I'll be leaving here 8 hours from now to start the induction process.

I didn't get the gel, just the pitocin. It went fine. I had to be induced for pre-e, and so was on mag as well. This was actually worst than the pitocin!!! Natural labor is more progressive than pitocin induced labor. I found that the pitocin made my contractions sporadic and suddenly intense. They'd go from nothing to BAM, huge cx. Then they'd settle down again. Was kinda weird for that.

All in all, the one deception was that I couldn't go natural. I had 4 iv's in me, and once they break your water, holy moly, you YELL for the epidural.
I must admit that I thought it would be worst than it was. And all in all, I still feel this was a better labor than with ds who wasn't induced (probably cause I had too many interventions with him, that I didn't know I could refuse).
Good luck! I'm sure it'll be fine!

I was induced with my first 2. My 2nd birth was actually my best! I liked it better than my completely natural birth with the newest baby. : I didn't have the gel either time, though. I was started on pitocin and then my water was broken. I had an epidural both times and it went well. My labor with DS1 was around 6.5 hrs, DD was 3 hours. No complications of any sort.
Good luck mama, I hope it goes well.

I was induced with my first - you can see how that ended up with my signature. But you are a 3rd time mom. I am sure you will be fine. I didnt have the gel. I had cytotec put in for a day and then had pitocin that night and all the next day.
I dont know if it is the same with the gel as it is with the cytotec but they would put it in, I had to lay flat for some period of time - an hour maybe? Then I could walk an hour, then I would lay flat for another when they put more in, then walk again etc etc.

This was my situation as well. I was ripened with Cytotec and then pitocin was started the next day. I was doing ok, working hard but getting through it until my water was broken and then holy cow, it got way too intense really fast, and I still wasn't dilating. However I got a super light epidural, fell asleep, and dilated from 3 to 10 in 4 hours while sleeping. By the time I woke up the epidural had basically worn off and I was able to push her out in 45 minutes and get up 30 minutes later to pee. The pit contractions were way worse than I expected but the whole experience was good.
