Finally posting my birth story: c-section and NICU

Well on April 23 at 41w1d I was induced. I pushed for 2.5 hours and the baby never descended so off for a c-section. My poor baby came out not breathing. She didn't take breath on her own for 10 minutes. No one was talking to me, which was probably best, since she just about died. They got her going but decided it would be best to send her to another hospital to go to the NICU. The NICU put her on anitbiotics just in case she had an infection. It takes too long to get the results back on infections and they can't wait to do the antibiotics. She was on oxygen for less than 24 hours! She had to stay 5 days for the antibiotics but came out clear on the infection part. I was able to get out of my hospital in less than 48 hours and went to her NICU hospital and got a parent-care room to stay with her. I was able to breastfeed her around the clock which I am so thankful for. She had to have formula since I couldn't get to her immediately but that is what formula is for.

Her diagnoses was perinatal depression, unfortunately most likely brought on by the painkillers and anethesia used for the c-section. We believe that I was given too much. I see my OB tomorrow for my postpartum. I love my OB but right now I blame him for almost killing my baby (and the anethesiologist). I'm almost ill thinking about my appt tomorrow.

Katherine was born on April 23 at 11:13 pm at 8lbs15oz and 21.5 inches long. She is now a healthy baby with no effects from the lack of oxygen. She even gained 10oz in one week!!

She is my miracle baby.

I'm sorry for her difficult birth, but she sounds like she is doing great now. Congrats!:

Congrats on your healthy daughter!!!! I'm so glad everything worked out well, despite the rough start. I hope everything goes well w/ your OB appt.....can't imagine how that would feel.
