How much for HB in Houston area?

Please, can anyone recommend a midwife (for home birth) in Houston area and tell me how much the whole package costs? Thanks!

Homebirth in Houston ranges from around $2400- $5000+

I use Chris Duffy and LOVE her. She has a scale for her fees depending on how early in the pregnancy you pay.

I used Deb Rouser and her fees were $2400. I love love love Deb. Christine Messara is her partner midwife and is also excellent.

i have had 3 homebirths with Pat Jones, she's a CNM and we adore her but I am not sure if she is taking new clients right now. I have also heard very good things about Sandra McDonald and some good/some not about Cathy Rude.

Hey, I know this is off topic but I am moving to the Houston area in a month and looked in find your tribe but didn't find much. Do you all get together, have a natural minded moms group??

Gotta put in my vote for Sandra McDonald! I'm on my 2nd pregnancy with her and have a friend who's used her 3 times, plus at least one other friend who's birthed with her.

Sandra is absolutely fabulous and I *highly* recommend her to everyone! She does all home visits, too, which is great for me and my family. For a while I was driving to see Cathy Rude in Katy and I'd get totally anxious on the 40 minute drive! Now I have to clean my house, but it's a good excuse.

You can see local midwives at http://www.houstonmidwives.org/ . I'm not sure if others do home visits exclusively, too, but keep that in mind when you look at where Sandra is!

As for cost, Angela's range is what I've seen. The upper numbers are generally the full fee, while a discount is often given for those who pay cash by a certain date.

There are several threads in the Finding Your Tribe area, too, where we've all rehashed pretty much the same stuff.

Our API meeting this month was on babywearing and we had 15-20 moms in attendance. There are also a few informal APish playgroups in different areas of town.

Yeah, that's what I was wondering, 'cause I have not much time left (I'm 28 weeks pregnant)....
