I tried it allllllll with my daughter. We did ultimately use medication; the risk to her esophogus and the damage to us both from her total inability to sleep ever made it worth it. But two things were helpful, and they were what I relied on any time I thought things were calm enough to stop the meds. One was homeopathic nat phos, which can be good for healing esophogeal damage. The other was a no-kidding elimination diet, under the guidance of a naturopath who used muscle testing to look for food sensitivities. The latter really reduced the severity of the reflux.

Did you discuss the possiblity of her reflux being causes by a reaction to something getting into your milk from your diet?

Is Violet in pain, having feeding and sleeping trouble? If she's in pain she needs treatment. If she's just spitting up but otherwise fine, well then she's fine. My dd has severe reflux. The only thing that worked for her was some powerful reflux meds. We thought it might be food allergies, but now after eliminating those, we know she just has reflux on top of food allergies. I would try to get to the bottom of it, but in the meantime try to not let her be in pain. ((HUGS))

The best non-drug treatment I know of is keeping the baby upright as much as possible. But as a pharamcist, I can tell you the meds are really mild, and we even use them in preemies. My favorite is Axid, because it doesn't have alcohol or peppermint flavor, both of which can be irritating.

we used axid at first. my son got no relief....at all. apparently many babies need PPI's, rather than H2 blockers...once we switched to prevacid i had a totally different baby. no more screaming during feeds, arching, etc.
just my experience.
you can read about reflux treatments at marci-kids.com (midwest acid reflux childrens institute)
and visit the infantreflux.org message boards.
good luck to you!
(my son also requires a milk/soy free diet)

chiropractic adjustment can make a big difference for some refluxers. Might be worth a shot.
