mom of the week?

i just sneaked a peek at the october ddc and they are apparently doing this cute thing where there's a "mom of the week" that everyone gets to ask questions to/about. this seems like it could be a good "getting to know" each other thing, maybe easier to keep track of than one big thread where everyone writes about themselves (i love reading those but lose track of who is who pretty quickly).

do you guys think this would be a good idea here? i'm not sure how we'd go about picking a mom a week, but we could figure it out i'm sure...

I think it's a great idea. I wonder how many mamas-to-be there are on the DDC...?

I like the idea. But I think it should be limited to people that actually post and not just those signed up on the Official DDC list, kwim. There's only so many weeks left in our pregnancies (25-29), we'd never get through all 96 (or however many there are) that are on the list.

i agree. any suggestions on how to figure this out?

i'd be happy to set it up each week, if i had a list to go off of or something. i think it would get really hectic if i just tried to pick someone randomly each week!

Maybe if we pick a handful of the most read and commented on threads, like the weekly one a few weeks back for example. Then make a list of everyone that posted in most of the larger threads. I suppose then whoever coordinated it could just randomly draw a name.

Just go thru the threads and write down the posters names that you see most often....then draw randomly...I think that sounds like fun!

Yeah, I think that's the best way to do it. I don't think the less frequent posters would probably want to be showcased for a whole week anyway, kwim.

I love it! I've done something similar before and it was a lot of fun. We had a sign up list on my other DDC. Someone started a thread for signups for mother of the week, and we just went in the order of the posts. It was also the responsibility of the first mama to start the thread for the mama after her, etc.

But, whatever the majority wants sounds good to me!

i'm fine with organizing. just majority: let me know what you prefer, a sign-up list or a random choosing. i'll be happy to do either.

just to update, i did a preliminary list of people i see around here a lot and it's already 25! and i'm sure i'm missing some who would like to participate. i suppose we are way more active than we think!

this works for me too. i'll just wait for some more opinions/some kind of consensus and then i'll set up whatever thread is appropriate.

any preference on what day of the week i start these? tuesdays and thursdays are BAD but i'm open to any other day.

I like to do it on Monday since it is the beginning of the week, but whatever works best for everyone else is okay with me. Thank you for putting this together!

I love this! I've only been here a couple of months but I've grown attached to all you ladies! There are some amazing people here and I can't wait to learn more about everyone! This is fabulous! Especially because we're going through such an emotional journey together...and will be sticking around the thread raising our kids together. Love, love, love it! I bet we all have some really interesting stories to tell.

How in-depth do people get when they talk? What sorts of stuff do they talk about? Some guidelines would be good, or a general idea of what people are interested in knowing.
