i'm almost 14 weeks and this is so not fair that i'm still throwing up all day. i've never been sick this long with my other pregnancies.

i still haven't gained any weight, i started off at 150 and am around 137. my medicaid hasn't kicked in yet and i haven't gotten to see ANYBODY to check if everything is alright with the baby. it feels like my belly has grown some, but not enough. i figure if i'm still puking this much my hcG levels must be okay though. i've run out of phenergan and i need more!!

i want to eat. i want to feel full. i'm sick of washing vomit out of my hair.

blah.

end of whine.

I'm sorry you're having such a rough time. I hope you start to feel better soon. Can you go to Planned Parenthood for some more medication until your Medicaid kicks in?

Ugh. That sounds really horrible
to you and hopes that it gets better for you!

Oh Marisa, THAT stinks!
Are you covered if you go to the ER? Sometimes that's the only way to get care. I don't know for sure though as I've never been in the Medicaid situation.

When is Medicaid supposed to kick in?

Marisa,

I'm so sorry you're suffering so much. I'm only 11.5 weeks, so I can still be in denial that it's really just morning sickness and it's going to end next week! I'm down 15 lbs as well.

I've had this will all my pregnancies, so I want to reassure you that usually our babies are just fine. They are taking what they need from us. It's great that you haven't been this sick before, because it means that you have even more nutrient reserves in your body for your baby.

When does your medicaid kick in? It's simply barbaric that it doesn't automatically start with the confirmation of your pregnancy. Good grief. We are such a backwards country.

Are ER visits retroactively covered? I would second going to the ER, either way. You're most likely seriously dehydrated and would benefit from some IV rehydration therapy. Once you get dehydrated, it becomes a vicious cycle that's tough to break out of. If you absolutely cannot do that, then spend as much time as you possibly can in the bathtub and experiment with different liquids to see what you can keep down. For some reason, very hot things are easier for me right now...because I just have to take tiny sips. Have you tried hot lemon water?

Try to stay connected... It's good that you're here at MDC. Hyperemesis is so isolating and lonely.

Take gentle care of yourself, Marisa. I hope that you get some relief soon and that it doesn't last much longer.

I was on Medicaid 4.5 years ago during my first pregnancy, and I'm almost certain they said it would cover retroactively for 3 months once it kicked in. You should call the office and check on that. If you've submitted everything it really shouldn't take long to kick in and if it does cover retroactively, you'd already be covered. I'm pretty sure my midwife started seeing me as soon as I had submitted the Medicaid application.

I am right there with you - m/s is the worst! Hoping you get some relief real soon.

I know how much hyperemesis sucks. I am right there with you. Our insurance does not cover the Zofran my midwife prescribed, and that is all she will prescribe. So on I suffer...

GooeyRN, have you tried appealing?

I'm trying to avoid the Zofran this time, because dd2 is still breastfeeding. Last time, it took a few weeks of appeals to get TriCare to cover the Zofran. They finally agreed when I had lost 16lbs and been hospitalized twice. Jerks! Then, they authorized a year's worth. Seriously...how can I get THAT job...you obviously don't have to use any brain cells...

No, no...I'm not bitter at all...

I hope you can get this taken care of. Good luck!

P.S. I gave my extra pills to our mw practice. Would your mw call around for you and see if she can get some samples?

No wisdom here, just sympathy. I'm nauseous all day here with my 4th. I vomit so much I have broken blood vessels on my cheeks and neck...charming, huh? :

I can't eat much either, so I'm exhausted all day.

I wear sea bands, take B-6 and it only takes the edge off. I too, was NEVER this sick with my other 3 pregnancies. But, I've also never been pregnant this time of year. Hmmm. I keep trying to figure out WHHHHHHHHHHY....

Hugs to all us sick mamas.

Oh, it was so nice to log in and see all the kind replies! Thank you for all of your messages.

I'm not sure how long it will take for Medicaid. And yes, it should be retroactive - I've already been to the ER three times so I have hospital reimbursement specialists working on my case.

I'm having a very good day today and have kept everything down! Maybe, just maybe, I'm getting to the tail end of this.

:-)

Even though my midwives are against it (not sure why, I have my theories) I am using 1/2 Unisom with 25mg of B6 at night. I know SO many women who were given that by midwives (including a past CNM of my own) and it's the only thing helping me stay away from full blown Hyperemesis.

I am vomitting several times per day now, but am keeping some nourishment down in between. On really bad days, I have to take another dose with a nap in the afternoon to get by. That stinks
