Sonic Toothbrush while pregnant?

I just got a Sonicare today and love the way it makes my teeth feel extra clean. But it is *so*loud and I can really feel the vibrations. I also noticed that the babe was kicking around a lot while I brushed- maybe coincidence but maybe not. Does anyone know the safety of sonic toothbrushes during pregnancy? Seems like since its far away from the abdomen and not directed right at it there wouldn't really be cause for concern, but the extra movement has me a little worried. Should I put the toothbrush away until August?

Maybe you could ask your dentist. I used my Sonicare during my pregnancy. I got a dental cleaning during my second trimester (I was obviously pregnant at the time) and my dentist was pleased when I told him I used Sonicare. He says he strongly recommends that brand. *shrug*

Thanks! DS is going to the dentist on monday (eroded lines on his incisors- a whole 'nother post!) and I can ask someone then. I'm pretty sure they will say it's safe, I'm just slightly paranoid .

your gums are extra sensitive during pregnancy-dental health is so important to your overall health, that the best thing you can do for your baby is to make sure you're taking great care of your teeth. Sonicare toothbrushes are amazing and I'm sure it's okay for your baby.

Yeah, the dentist said that it wouldn't do any harm to a fetus as sonic waves (as opposed to ultrasonic) really don't penetrate that far and in no way could get as far as the babe. Of course, I figured as much but was paranoid . But he said the baby could probably hear it since it's loud in general (hence the movement), but not damaging.
