We do a good bit of signing with Isaac and b/c of that started doing EC. By the time he was about seven-eight months he was telling us (signing) when he was pooping/about to poop/had to poop. By 12 months we were getting most of the #2 in the toilet. Now (18 months) it's all in the toilet.
Shortly after 12 months he was giving us the toilet sign for #1 or #2. With #1, he would often sign to us he had to go, but it turned out he was telling us as he was going (in his diaper).
Now he is often dry when I try to change his diaper so I offer him the toilet and he always goes willingly. When he poops on the toilet, we read books, so he doesn't get too bored sitting there. We usually go through two board books!

I can't remember the last time I changed a poopy diaper, although he's had an occasional one for my MIL who watches him sometimes. I think she isn't that tuned in...besides the fact that she made a comment that we were going to "scar him" [emotionally] by "making" him poop on the toilet at "such a young age".

: Whatever.
It's been fun and really neat to do EC, although I am hardly hardcore about it!

I'll definitely do it again, at least like I did it with Isaac, but maybe be more serious about it. We'll see how it goes postpartum...
I'm happy with his toilet habits and hope I haven't "scarred him for life"!
