Last night I had cervix pain but it was due to the fact IMO that the little one was punching and kicking and wiggling in every direction.

Two nights ago I did have to sharp contractions and when I checked my cervix the next morning it was dilated.

Those sharps pains kinda catch me unaware. OUCH!!!

I have been having these for weeks----and now they are getting to the brutal phase!! I am assuming they mean that stuff is working--because I am 100% effaced, 2cm dilated and carrying baby at +2 station! So----I would think they mean that the cervix is doing *something* if thats any consulation!!
But I feel your pain...literally!! They can stop me in my tracks instantly because they hurt so bad! I just keep thinking....keep working, keep dilating, keep doing some thing please!!
I hope it does some thing big for one of us soon!!

I've been having these as well. Sometimes little twinges, sometimes enough to make me hold my breath! Doc said that they are a good sign...

I've been having them for 2 weeks now. I am hoping they are doing some good too. My midwife said they are probably doing something to the cervix, but she doesn't do routine checks so we don't know what they are doing.

I'm also experiencing this. I don't know what causes it, but I just keep picturing a tiny finger with a sharp, little newborn fingernail jabbing at my cervix while my baby thinks, "I'm supposed to exit through there?!"

That's what I've always thought it was - baby hands up there. Don't know if I've had it after baby's head has engaged, which it most definitely has NOT yet this time. Stubborn little guy is still flipping around like crazy and mostly settles with his head just to the left of center, diagonally lying (though right this minute he seems to be pushing at the other hip or transverse even). I do get those twinges from time to time but not often.

I'm having those too- so painful!! I don't know what kind of progress my cervix has made... I'm 40wks5days right now so SOMETHING better be happening

I was told that the sharp stabbing/pinching is the cervix reacting to the pressure from the baby's head, or from the baby's head touching it. I also was told that once cervix is completely soft the pains are not sharp anymore. Was told to expect them to get very intense, then seem to dissapear.

I was having them just terribly for about a week, and now nothing for 2 days, so i'm hoping it means my cervix has softened considerably, although.... baby is not really 'engaged' yet.
