Raise your hand if you're ready for summer vacation!!

Thread Starter

I am soooooooooooooo ready for Summer Vacation, I don't think I can make it another month. I am sick of getting everyone up, dressed, feed, teeth brushed and most of all making lunches. I'm sick of homework and having to drop what I'm doing to run and pick kids up off the bus and I'm done with early bedtimes.

This is my plan for the summer, kids can wake up when ever they want, make their own breakfast from a choice of healthy premade things like cut up fruit, muffins, cereal etc.. when they get dressed they will put on their bathing suits because I'm not doing laundry. They can spend the whole day playing and at night they can take a bath in the kiddie pool hang up the swim suit put on pj's and go to bed whenever they want.

What are you going to do to make your summer as easy as possible?

I am so ready for summer.

There is a local private school that goes October-May (only) and just three days a week. Sounds good to me!

Esp when the weather gets nice I'm just ready to do our own thing.

I am too! I love your plan.: I'm tired of this school stuff- can't wait for summer!

Me!

Me! Over here! (hand up) I'm tired of the grumpyness after school and the rush to get supper, baths and bedtime all done without someone coming unglued. I am really looking forward to sleeping in just a little. Self serve breakfast (and mayb even lunch) sounds like a great idea. We all like to have a routine for each day. Last summer I wrote out some kid sized jobs on slips of paper. Each morning after breakfast they chose a quick job to do. This worked really well. It gave me time to do my morning chores and more time to play each day. They liked having a purpose each morning. Less than 2 weeks left here!

I like the idea of school Oct- May. Heck, Oct-April would be fine with me.

hey, thanks for this thread! i'm hs-ing and on the fence about next year (ps or hs). you've reminded me that school will not immediately solve all my struggles...so if i may lurk here i'm also looking forward to summer and love the pre-cut breakfasts/bathing suit plan. i'm planning on one day a week at the beach but other than that as few scheduled things as possible.

I am not ready for summer. My 6yo needs a lot of structure or she gets bored, and when she's bored she gets grumpy and starts fights with her sister. She enjoys short breaks but the whole summer is just too much. I'm glad we'll be in India for half the summer so she gets a change of scenery and hopefully other adults to help keep her busy. I am also going to miss that one on one time with dd2. She's at a fun age and I like to do things just the two of us. I do that with dd1, too, but it's different.

I can't wait!!! DD1 can't wait either, classes are over May 25 in her school, earlier than usual but it's better lol

This summer will be fun!

On June the 3th we're going to visit my family in Venezuela, then in July 1st we're going to Mexico, for a whole month, then back to Venezuela for a couple of days, we're coming back and the double birthday part for DD1 and DD2 on August 17.

Then, they can be in the swimming pool as long as they wish to, they can be in their pj's all day and sutff, and then back to school on September 10.

I am!

I'm looking forward to:
-sleeping in
-no uniforms to wash (keeping white shirts clean is hard work)
-no homework
-lounging around the pool all day

My kids do get bored and anstsy if they stay at home all day. I've learned that the hard way. We are getting memberships to two pools this year so I plan to take them every day. One is the pool at the country club where dh plays golf and the other is the local pool. That should keep the kids busy.

I can't wait! I hope DS will let me sleep past 7am. He's an early riser. We're just going to hang out with our friends and family and enjoy the nice weather.

I'm waaay ready for summer in that I'm ready to be done waking my son up foolishly early to catch the bus, dealing with after-school grumpies, baths and bedtimes. But, I'm also 7 months pregnant, so once I DO get him up and out the door, it's very nice to "only" have my 2 year old to manage for 8 hours each day. We have lots of activities planned, b/c without them my son goes crazy. He really, really needs structure and craves a routine like some people crave chocolate. He can't function without one, and it's NOT a function of being overly schooled. In fact, he was routine-driven before even starting school. So we've got plenty of "free time", but we also have a few vacation bible schools and daycamps planned. And of course, in the evenings, we'll be floating in the association swimming pool!

Once baby comes, I'm a little concerned how to keep the kids occupied in the house all day.....

ME! Oh, wait... are teachers supposed to say that? But yes, we count the days too (19 to go!).

I am a teacher and have a first grader and a preschooler. I am so ready for summer. I will actually be working a lot in the summer (trainings), but we will have some good chunks of time open. The day after school is out, we are flying to see my sister and have a week at the beach. I haven't been near a beach warm enough to swim in in many, many years, and I don't get to see my sister very much. So I don't even mind that I will be flying 5 hours both ways alone with a 6 and a 3 year old.

I am also very ready for my son to get more physical again and run outside all day. He has become a real bookworm.

I think teachers are allowed to say they are ready. I have two more days. *happy dance* I love my students, but I need to miss them. Absence does make the heart grow fonder.
