Raise your hand if you're ready for summer vacation!! - Page 2

Summer Vacation for us just means that my son has more time in daycare instead of school, since I still have to work + attend class.

Summer is my favourite time of the year. It totally sucks that I won't be able to spend it doing all the fun summer things I love doing with my kids this year. Or probably the next few years either.

Come to think of it, I also don't know how we'll afford food, since my ds gets his breakfast and lunch free at school, but I have to send all the food for him when he goes to daycare... argh.

Sorry... feeling sorry for myself.

Yes and no. Of course we've got just a week off, then summer school/ESY (extended school year) until the end of June. Summer school is fun classes, keeps dd socially occupied since she's a social butterfly and I'm a hermit. And ds really needs the structure of ESY.

But anyway, after June, I'll miss my naps and "me time", but I will NOT miss the get up, get dressed, rushrushhurryhurry, don't miss the bus! routine. And the "yes, you HAVE to take a bath tonight because you're covered in dirt!" thing. And the homework thing. And the "no we can't do X, you have to get up for school tomorrow" thing.

so ready! my oldest has three more weeks though, and my youngest will be in preschool all summer. But the pace has definitely shifted-no more homework for the oldest, they're doing fun projects, etc. We only have a month and a half of summer (on a modified traditional calendar-recently switched from a track system) but it works well because we get three weeks at christmas and spring, and our summers are brutally hot anyway.

I'm ready!!! me! me! I miss my kids and love having them here all day and the fact that I don't have to drive to their school ten times per week will be great!

I also feel a bit sad about this grade being over-she'll never be a first grader again! She's changed so much from the start of the year to the end.

Woot Woot!

But I am also a little sad-- my oldest is graduating from high school and going off to college in a few short weeks. He's ready, and I am trying to get ready for that.

I am ready for summer as well although I will be working and dd will be at sitter's. But she won't have to go to bed so early and can just go to sitters in pjs so the morning won't be such a struggle. I will take a few days off here and there so it won't be too bad.
