I posted about a week ago about my pap smear results showing mild dysplasia and having to have a colposcopy. For those of you that don't know, dysplasia is basically abnormal cells in your cervix - it's what they're looking for in a pap smear. Anyway, I had my colposcopy with the backup OB for my MW practice. He looked around inside and said that he honestly couldn't see anything abnormal!
This is actually not too surprising to me. Ever since I had my LEEP procedure (pre-cancerous cells in cervix burned off) about 9 years ago, I get abnormal results on my paps about every other time. They do a re-pap and it comes back normal. I don't know why this time would be any different, but instead of just re-papping they did the colposcopy. I mean, I understand the need - it's to have a baseline to have to compare against when they do another one post-partum, but it scared me!
So the great news is it's probably nothing! And as a bonus, I got to talk to the backup OB for awhile and really like him. If something were to happen and he needed to be called in, I think I would be very comfortable with him providing my care.

I'm so glad to hear your colposcopy came out a-okay. Yipppeee!
