VBAC Thread

Anyone else going for a VBAC? It's next to impossible to get one here in Rhode Island w/out going to the "baby mill" which has the highest intervention rates in the state. I'm very nervous I'll be unsuccessful - not because my body will fail me but because I won't be able to find a practitioner.

I'm waiting one more day to test (but REALLY think I'm pregnant) and I will be having a VBAC too. Atleast busting my a** to get one! I think I'll be due late Jan. My daughter was born Nov. 27th in 2004. Another turkey baby! I was told I could never have a vaginal birth too and my whole experience made me swear I would never have kids again too. I joined the ICAN list and after reading and joining in every now and then (and having a friend with a similar experience to talk to ALOT) I finally feel confident in my body again. I still hate my OB for being so casual about it and leading me down the road to my cesarean, but I solve that by never using him again, and occasionally cursing him under my breath...

I live in KS, where I guess it's not the worst or the best. I plan on going to a Freestanding Birth Center that is about half an hour from me. I know my hospital has banned VBAC's because at my 6 wk. postpartum they had signs posted everywhere stating it. What a great way to start my recovery, huh? If the birth center doesn't work out I plan on having a homebirth with an excellent midwife.

Have you considered traveling somewhere else to deliver or having a homebirth? (I know it seems so scary to some, including me sometimes)

First off... good luck! Please test!!! LOL

Although I am not afraid of homebirth I know that DH is especially considering what happened the last time. Also for personal comfort I think I would rather be in a hospital (I KNOW - WHY?!?!?!!) We live in a townhouse with paper thin walls and I don't even feel comfortable making too much noise when DTD - nevermind dealing with labor pain.

I was very unprepared for the "worse-case scenario" and now that I have been through this once I have exact plans already written out on how I want to deliver this next one. Now I just need to find a practitioner who will work with me. I'm considering going into Massachusetts or CT if I have to.

I'll be fighting for a VBAC, too.
Haven't checked out the options yet, but there is a very good midwife in my area that I have high hopes for. I would love a hb, but dh would never go for it. Hopefully we can go to the bc, as I really really really need to stay out of the hospital.
I'm sure we will be talking more and more about this as the months go on.

please keep us posted on how it goes. I'm seeing an acupuncturist throughout my pregnancy and she has two successful vbacs under her belt, but she won't work without MW or OB.

I will keep you posted! I'm sure there will be lots of discussion about caregivers int eh months to come! I really have my fingers crossed for the MW. I'm not sure what I'll do otherwise. (I'm too chicken to UC).

I am definitely going for a VBAC! I have researched and researched about it since I had my son via c-sect.

Hi all!
I'm attempting a homebirth vbac. DH is on board and totally against going to the hospital again, unless of course, it's a life or death situation. My c-section with dd was a nightmare.

HBAC here b/c I know it's the only place where I'll be successful...plus...I really do believe it is the safest option available.

I am really hoping for a VBAC, although I don't even know how my OB group feels about the subject. I know that our local birth center won't allow VBACs and we just aren't ready for a HB. It's very frustrating to think about!

I've been planning our HBAC since the recovery room! If you told me that 3 years ago, I would have not believed it. It's amazing where life brings us.

I'm planning another vbac.
Dani- I actually just responded to another post of yours in the tribal area. The midwife I used for my vbac in 2004 and will be using again is in Rhode Island. She's awesome.
