Aaa? - Page 2

If I'd have had an AAA membership last week, I would not be driving on a ticket right now, I would have my license. They will take AAA for bail instead of license or 100 dollars! Grrrrr I hate tickets.

i would live without health insurance before i stopped having triple A. even before having a child, there were countless times it saved my arse. no one wants to be on the side of the highway at 1am with a busted rim or snapped belt, a (hopefully) sleeping child, and $17 on your debit card.

I think its worth it if you have older cars and take long trips (or commute far).

This past year was the first year in the last 3 or 4 we didn't really use it, but we had several years where we used all of our 4 tows and we still own the car that was towed. DH also drives 25 miles to work, so we have the plus because we just can't deal with the hassle of having him break down near work and then either paying for a tow back to home or having to get it fixed at some random place there to avoid that.

We also drive long trips (days of driving, etc.), so I like having the security knowing we don't have to worry about that.

When I had my road trip van, I had them tow me many times, once 75+ miles from yellowstone to Jackson Hole. That would have been very costly - we were pricing just a cab to get the other passengers down and that would have been nearly $200! (luckily we worked it out with the tow truck driver, he let us ride in the van as it was strapped to the flatbed, not towed).

I also have taken advantage of some pretty cool discounts. When christmas shopping at an outlet mall, I got 40% off at the reebok outlet for being a AAA member, and most of the things were already 40-50% off because they were having a big sale. You can also usually get a $5-10 hotel discount if you ask.

we have the plus membership with the 3 tows up to 100 miles a year and unfortunately for about as long as I can remember, we've used all 3 and ended up saving a ton of money from the membership. I also got them to come out quickly to help me into my car when I accidentally locked my keys in :

Me again.

I was leaving work last night at about 10:30, and discovered that my right rear tire was 100% flat. I felt awful last night (and today)....bad cold or the flu or something.

I called AAA....they came to change my tire and guess what? The stupid spare tire wouldn't drop from under the van. I'm not sure what's wrong....could be rust or something. But even if I'd wanted to change it myself, I wouldn't have been able to.

I was subsequently towed ten miles to the garage we use.

We have had it several times over the years on and off. The last time we had it, the $50 membership paid for it self 2 times over. A hotel we were staying at in San Diego was $75 less each night w a AAA membership.

The is usually the main reason to have it for us.
