Possibly TMI Post-Partum Bleeding Question

Daniel was born 12 days ago (4/29) and my bright red bleeding stopped three days after he was born. Since then, it's started up again (it started once I was pooping with any sort of regularity again ) only now it's a dark reddish/almost brown thick sludge with occasional clots. Is this normal? Is it something I should be worried about? It is outside of my experience with my other births, but I realize that doesn't necessarily make it abnormal.

mine is like that now too

can be normal- most likely what is happening is the intestines are moving the fundus around and dislodging any clots and probably stimulating contractions-
I would say be sure to stay hydrated , eat plenty of greens,

That makes lots of sense.

I wonder too if the difference is that this was my first homebirth. In the hospital, they were demented about massaging my uterus, giving me pills and shots and whatever. Maybe this is just a more natural progression but I'm just not used to it.

Sounds normal to me. I think that's about the progression I had, too, although I don't really remember.
