First time planned homebirther

Hi everyone, this is my first time posting here. I have been daily reading the postings in the homebirth site now for a few months. Reading your stories has helped me gain more confidence that I can safely homebirth. I have a midwife and I am due to pop any day! This is baby #4 but will be my first homebirth. I am really looking forward to it. My first two babies were both induced (one for mere dr convenience) and my third baby came suddenly and unexpectedly. When I arrived at the hospital after 1 hr of labor I was already dilated to a ten. But I had to wait another 2 hours before they would let me push because they didn't have a "delivery room" ready and the doctor was not there. Needless to say, I am glad I will not have to go through all the unnecessary stress and pain to birth my baby in a hospital this time around. I am anxious about the baby coming quickly and unexpectedly though because of how my daughter came. But the anticipation is killing me. I am trying not to think about it too much, but people are calling me everyday to see if I'm in labor or not. I had some bloody show last Saturday and on Monday was dilated at a 3. I know that doesn't mean too much. I am just so ready to have this baby!

I hope your little one arrives soon! We're planning a HB for our second child, and I can't wait. Our first was born after a 3hr labor and we made it to the hospital 20 minutes before he was born. DH was quite traumatized, and it was so overwhelming with everything the hospital needs to get done before they'll let you birth your baby... I know being at home will be so much calmer.

Vibes for a speedy labor and safe, beautiful birth experience for you, mama!!

I'd say stop picking up the phone .

Seriously though, as cliched as it sounds ' a watched pot never boils'. Talk to your baby, go for walks, focus on the last few days/weeks with just your other kids. I know how hard those last few weeks are when you have nothing else to think about but labor and birth (I didn't work from 5 months on, so it was ALL I thought about), but really focus on saying goodbye to this chapter of your life until the next chapter begins. Sending you speedy and safe birth vibes!
