brushing with baking soda

So, I really hate the foamy feeling of toothpaste. I've tried different things and in the end I end up being happiest when I just brush with baking soda. I only use baking soda once a day (at bedtime) and the rest of the times I just brush with water. This is several times a day, when I wash up before prayers.

Someone somewhere along the way suggested that brushing with baking soda, even if only once a day, might be too hard on my teeth, though I"ve not had any problems.

Is it bad for my teeth? Can you suggest something else?

I really thought I was the only person in the world that does this! It makes them feels so clean. My dentist said it's fine, just stick to a soft toothbrush

I read that it was pretty hard on the enamel so I generally just use peroxide, which would not be for you since you hate the foaminess

Ok so as I've been reading this forum I've found several posts where it's mentioned that baking soda wears away the enamel.

So, onto looking for some sort of tooth powder, I guess. I'm kind of willing to try tooth soap and see whether that helps... My Dr. Bronner's bottle says it can be used for teeth but I'm a little.. scared to try it. Though that would make a good joke about having my mouth washed out with soap daily.
