preterm labor (x-posted)

I took a nap with ds today and woke up way over heated and having one of the worst bh contractions ever! My back really hurt too. I guess it all went away once I got up and moved around but I felt really off all afternoon/evening. Anyways, this evening I started having THE WORST BACK PAIN of my life! I wanted to cry. It was mainly just on one side and it was achy but intense. I couldn't sit, stand or lay down, they all really hurt. I rubbed some st. john's wort oil on it, took a few tylenol (which i never do these days) and took a bath. During the bath the back pain went away but I seemed to be having a lot of bh. Since the bath it has seemed better but i still feel like I'm having a lot of bh. Then I was reading that more than 4 contractions in an hour is a sign of preterm labor....but I feel like I frequently have more than 4 bh in an hour so I don't know. The baby is still moving which is good, and I'm not bleeding/having abnormal discharge. At my last apt (a little over a week ago) the baby was posterior (and has been ever since they were first able to feel him/her). I tried to check my own cervix but although I know where my cervix is and what it feels like, I feel like I can't tell at all if I'm dilated, effaced, etc. I guess everything did feel softer than last time I checked (which was maybe 3 weeks ago).
So...could the back pain have been the start of premature back labor since the baby is posterior? Should I be worried at all? If I don't feel better tomorrow I'll call my midwife. DH thinks I'm just being paranoid and that the back pain is probably from something else. Thanks so much.

I hope you got some answers where this is X-posted.
I would try a chiropractic adjustment. That could shift the baby into another position and help with your backache.
I did not see how far along you are or if you feel comfortable contacting your caregiver. Obviously, if you are seeing someone they could check your cervix. If you can't feel your cervix/the opening that means it is really far back and you are probably not dilated.
Another remedy for shifting baby is homeopathic pulsatilla.
See the spinning babies website for great ideas as well.
