good bra recommendations?

I feel so stooooopid asking this but...

I am rapidly outgrowing my bras. I am not well-endowed to begin with and have been wearing these cotton bras with no hooks or anything. They are basically a spaghetti strap tank top but they stop right below the boobs. They don't offer enough support for me now.

I am not one for uncomfortable underwire or anything like that. What should I be looking for in a bra? Like, an 18-hour type one? I want comfortable support. I definately don't want flapjacks after I nurse. I am honestly so ignorant about this stuff. Also, are my boobs going to keep growing throughout the pregnancy? (my last pregnancy was perhaps not the norm- I really don't know that my boob growth was normal). I started off as a B cup and am now outgrowing a C (woohoo!) at 12 weeks. I would hate to spend a fortune on all new bras if I am going to outgrow them in another month.

Thanks so much!!!

Saw this in new posts and thought I'd jump in.

I got this after I had DS, but it works well for changing boob sizes and I think it would be good during pregnancy too:

FWIW, I was a 36C prepreg and became a 38 D/E during preg and in the early days of breastfeeding, and I got a "plus style" in medium. It fit postpartum, and it fits now although is a bit loose.

hope that helps!

If you like comfy, tank-type bras, you might try camisoles from New York & Co. (in the mall). They're just a shelf bra inside, but provide enough support and will accommodate rapidly expanding boobs.

At 10 weeks, I had already gone up two cup sizes. So for "real" bras, I've just been buying cheapish bras at Ross and figuring I'll replace them as I grow...

Great question!

That nursing bra looks really nice Katie - I might spring for one of those in a couple months. In the meantime I've been doing what VeganJoy is doing, buying a couple cheap bras at a time as I grow. I got one about 5 weeks ago and it's time for another already! I was a 36C pre-pregnancy so I like a lot support, but I found a cheapie Hanes bra at Target that looks like underwire & has a lot of support but doesn't actually have the wire.

I also love the shelf-bra tank tops. I always sleep in them but noticed they were uncomfortable around 8 weeks. Found some on sale at JCPenney and I'm so happy with how comfortable & supportive they are! I recently got some from Motherhood Maternity but the quality & support aren't nearly as good as the ones from Penneys. They were more expensive at Motherhood too, darnit!

Good luck shopping, Maisie, you'll be so happy to get into something comfortable!

I just got two bravado bras (after 15 month of nursing) and FINALLY I feel I have the support I need. i am a d cup and I love those. Could only afford two, but will buy more someday

Last time I ended up just getting the cheapest ones I could because not only was my cup size going up, but my band size was too. I am pretty busty and usually have light support at night and still ended up with pretty floppy nursing boobies. I really think it's luck of the draw, so don't feel down that you "didn't do enough" to keep them perky

IMO, treat yourself and your new-found boobness to a nice something from Victoria's Secret.

Go to a place that will fit you so you know where to start...but remember...different manufacturers have different sizes even if it says the same....quite annoying.

But, stretchy cups are best to accomodate growth. You can also buy extenders for the back to make your width be able to grow too.

I found an awesome bra at Meijers for 20 bucks. Its a tank/shelf bra that is nursing style. I wear it under everything. It's not jog worthy, but seriously..like I'm into joggin right now!

But, the meijer bra was over in the maternity section & it's a tank top looking thing so when I get hot I take my shirt off & I can walk the yard in this tank top...it's nice!
