REAL due date "fun facts"

Thread Starter
Shorter gestations - Asian, Semitic, Hispanic, Mediterranean (a week or so early with first)
Average gestations: Celtic, Russian or French (right around the due date)
Longer gestations - African, Germanic or Scandinavian (2-4 weeks past the due date)

AND!

CONCLUSION: Male gender significantly predisposes to the prolongation of pregnancy to the extent that, by 43 weeks of gestation, there are 3 male deliveries for every 2 female deliveries.

Very interesting...

I guess I would fall between- right around (Celtic/French) & 2 weeks past (Germanic/Scandiavian).. Maybe that will mean he is only ONE week past my EDD?

I love that there are all these general categories like Celtic, Germanic, Mediterranean...
and then there are the French.

Don't know why that is so funny to me! Gallic, I suppose.

My family line is I guess you could say heavily Germanic. I was supposedly born at 44 weeks. Hmmm.

This baby within me is a boy. . .I think you gestate a bit longer when you are nursing thru pregnancy. . .erm. Crap. I'm fit to be pregnant forever.

At least I'm a multip, so that sqeeks a week off somehow

Interesting! I am mixed Celtic and Germanic and my son came a week late first time. I don't know if it's a girl or boy this time around but : I don't feel like I can last another 2 weeks for another 41 week gestation

So, basically, this african-mediterranean-british-slavic boy baby should be due right around exactly when I've been saying: anywhere between tonight and June.

Guess I usually break the mold - I'm German/Scandanavian descent and until now have gone 7 or 12-13 days early. Even the boy trend didn't apply to my last one, but maybe this one is trying to fit the patterns.

Um, as far as I know Hispanic is not a race, actually, I find those categories, kind of, stupid you know, there's Mediterranean and then French, and the French are Mediterranean.
Hispanic is just a way of calling people whose mother tounge is Spanish. The same applies to the Celts, not Celtic, Celtic are the languages. My daughters are 1/2 Celts themselves as Welsh is one of their mother tounges.
How was the idiot who divide the categories?? I'm just asking lol

Oh and as i said my kids are 1/2 Celts and 1/2 "Hispanic", even though it's not a race.
And the three of them where born past their due dates.

And ugh I think I'm confusing myself, Russian is not a race either the correct term will be Slavic. That's right huh?? lol

I don't think the categories are at all racial - they look geographical, except for Semetic - is that considered a race, or a region? *thinks* I would think a region - 'Middle Eastern' in current day geographical terms.

Interesting. I planned on adding 2 weeks to my EDD, maybe I should add 3?
Yeah, I think of Germanic as be a language thing.
Race is silly biologically.

BUT, Semetic is a pretty well seperated group genetically. Only four lines of mitochondiral DNA pointing to four founding "mothers". I think of that one as not very regional, personally.

Still more variation within groups than between groups. As evidenced by EFPookie

I was telling someone I suspected that Asian women have shorter gestation periods. All the women I know, including me deliever around 38 weeks.
Well, I'm half Asian and half um . . . not celtic but what then? I think my bmom once referred to us as Scots-Irish? Is that a race? Dd was 41+ based on our later due date.
