And we have to get a stackable set up in order to fit a full size washer and dryer on the third floor of the townhouse where the washer and dryer is- no room for side by side. So no mismatched set that I know of will work. So we will be spending like a zillion dollars on the washer and dryer. Going to wait for memorial day to buy in the hopes of a big sale.
A tip we learned from my grandpa (a hardcore bargainer) is that Lowe's and Home Depot clearances their scratch & dent items and discontinued items on Saturday mornings. It's also worth asking the cashier if they'll give you a 10% discount because you can't afford much more (works frequently for him... I hope I'm as convincing of a bargainer when I'm older! ). We got a brand new washer that morning discontinued for the "next" up (exact same washer essentially just recoloring buttons type stuff) for half price that way a couple weeks ago! We also got our stove when we moved into our house last year marked almost $200 off because of a dent in the back panel (which faces the wall! Who cares if it's dented towards the wall??).

We are taking our yard clipping to the dump and actually did a lot of yard work. We have someone who mows it though.

My sons birthday is coming up (he is going to be four years old!. my baby!). I went to a couple of great garage sales this weekend and got all of his presents for $5! A matchbox case with pull-up handle and wheels so he can roll around his car collection (he will absolutely love that!), and a little umbrella with Bob the Builder on the handle. I buy him something else at a "real" store, but it will still be a frugal birthday (for me) and a joyous birthday (for him!). I also bought some jeans and pajamas and shirts for him in very good shape at the same yard sale. I don't usually consider spending money to be frugal, but sometimes it is!
