Ok, she's 4 weeks old and now she's sick. I never had to deal with this as ds got his first cold at around 8mths I think. Now she's stuffy and won't nurse well, she's crying and pulling off the breast and I don't want her to get dehydrated!!

I've been putting breastmilk in her nose and suctionning, but is there anything more I can do??

i take vitamin c and echinacea 4 times a day (as recommended in aviva romm's Naturally healthy babies and children) for lil one to get through my breast milk.

My little one had a cold a week ago, too, from dh and ds. It started in the eyes, with yellow goop, yuck, then into her nose. She made so much noise while she was nursing! I would suction her nose and she nursed pretty well actually. I figure her immunities were getting the first workout. I took grapefruit seed extract as an anti-viral.

Hope she feels better soon.

Abby has had a cold too. It sucks. She struggle so to breathe. We suck her nose out with saline solution & BM. It sure has made for long nights!!! But we seem to be on the up swing (I hope!).
I know how tought it is.

Same boat! We are usually up from 3-5am bc of breathing probs. I'm glad you posted this-I forgot how to loosen the mucus!

Quinn's got one too! Seems so young, but I have faith that his little immune system is strong from all the good mamma's milk! He's had the cold for almost a week, and is just a little congested still. We, too are having nursing problems in the wee hours of the morning, but saline is helping, I'll give the BM a try.
